Due to a decrease in fire risk, campfires and cooking fires are once again permitted within the Coastal Fire Centre, which includes the Qualicum Beach Fire Protection area, effective noon on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
The lifting of the ban has been implemented by the Qualicum Beach Fire Chief in conjunction with the BC Wildfire Service’s Coastal Fire Centre and BC Ministry of Forests Operations.
Fires in outdoor fireplaces are now permitted in accordance with the Town's Bylaw 715 and as outlined in the Town's Outdoor Burning FAQ qualicumbeach.com/fire_regulate. Beach fires are not permitted at any time in the Qualicum Beach Wildlife Management Area.
Although fire danger has declined in the Coastal Fire Centre due to cooler seasonal temperatures, the public is strongly encouraged to continue exercising extreme caution with any campfire and ensure that burning is done in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with regulations.
