August 2024

Dear Titan Family and Friends,

As we embark on a new academic year, we're filled with excitement and anticipation for the incredible journey ahead. We’d like to extend a warm welcome to all of our Titan families, new and old, joining us this year! Each month, we will update you on important action items discussed during monthly Board of Governors meetings and provide reminders about upcoming events and opportunities.

Highlights from the August 5, 2024 meeting are as follows:

  • Committee Reports:
  • Finance - The July 2024 financials were reviewed and approved for informational purposes. The balances in the operating account and the reserve account were shared. The interest rate on LOA’s reserve funds was discussed by board members. BOG meeting agendas, monthly financials, and minutes can be found here on the LOA website.
  • Communication - The BOG will continue with the monthly newsletter as a tool for communication. In keeping with the new strategic plan, LOA has adopted a new platform for school to home communication called ParentSquare.
  • Governance - The BOG presented information on school bylaws, the new charter agreement, and charter school laws and regulations. The BOG Governance committee is in the process of reviewing existing policies, identifying new policies, and if necessary, will create a comprehensive policy bank to be shared as appropriate.
  • Strategic Planning - Dr. Bowling presented the final version of the Strategic Plan and will post the plan to the school’s website. LOA instructional leadership teams are working on operational plans at the lower school, middle school, and high school levels that will show how LOA and its employees expect to meet the goals under the strategic plan.
