We are in the home stretch and could use some help packing this last week before the move of items to Barnabas and storage. Please see the updated signup genius for shift times to see what works for you. The spaces are small and the staff is continuing to work so we are trying to spread the help out over the week.
All the fun will culminate in the Move Party, Saturday June 8th beginning at 10:00 am, where lightweight items will be moved from the main building to Barnabas. All are welcome. Thank you for your help and all the wonderful moving supplies provided.
Please take a look at the signup genius and see where you can help – sign up here: https://bit.ly/sp-move
Thank you!!

We will gather in Barnabas on Tuesday, June 11th from 11:30-2 pm to do some prep work ahead of the Week of Wonder that begins the following week. Education for Ministry (EfM) Registration
St. Paul’s EfM (Education for Ministry) group will resume in September but now is the time to register for the upcoming year.
Our group meets weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30pm.
| |
|
EfM is an adult formation program for the laity, administered by the University of the South, that examines the bible, church history, and Christian theology. As the EfM website states, “while the course materials provide substantial academic content, the focus of the program is on understanding the call to ministry throughout our daily lives …. The goal is to become Christians mature in (our) faith who are reflective practitioners of the Way of Love that Jesus himself taught and modeled.”
Perhaps EfM participant and alumnus, Fred Warner, says it better … “So. why do I attend EFM? I need the fellowship and conversation surrounding a biblical structure. I need varying reflections from others in the group about their thoughts and actions as a result of the readings. I need the Christian community to continually build on my understanding and forthcoming actions in my daily life. EFM is not a one-time experience, nor a four-year course of study. EFM is a constant renewal process of listening, digesting, and acting on my Christian values.” For more information contact Jean Larson at jam.larson@gmail.com or 847-987-6949, or Kelly Pitsenberger at pitz@bellsouth.net.

WSP Cookbook
The Women of St. Paul's (WSP) is undertaking the exciting task of writing a cookbook! We think this endeavor will be a fun way to have fellowship and community during the months ahead while the new construction gets underway. Also, St. Paul's 200 year anniversary will be here in 3 years, so a fabulous cookbook will be part of that celebration!
| |
The proceeds from selling the cookbook will go towards the mission of WSP... Outreach, Inreach, and Historic Preservation, We will be taste testing recipes at various gatherings like WSP Socials, Weekly Staff Meetings, etc. We are in the very beginning of formulating just how to get the cookbook together, and are fortunate enough to have Gwen McKee helping us. Gwen is a very accomplished cookbook author and we're excited to work with her.
WE NEED your fabulous recipes! Please send them to our email below. Also a box in the Narthex has recipe templates to write your recipe and place them in the box. How ever you can get your recipe to us, we will be most grateful! Please remit your recipes by September 1.
WE NEED COOKS to test the recipes, and TASTERS to rate the recipes. These tests and tastings will be held over the next year or so.
| |
Email us your recipe at stpaulscooks@gmail.com OR
we can be found in the St. Paul's directory.

Beginning in June, we will meet in Barnabas throughout the rest of the year. Barnabas is the building on Fair Street, across the street from Otey Hall. There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the building. We will have a classroom-type arrangement with plenty of room to spread out.

St. Paul's unique writing group, Kairos, meets on the first and third Fridays of each month at 10 am in the church library. We are a friendly group of ladies and gentlemen, and we always welcome newcomers of all ages.
| |
|
During meetings, we write spontaneously about similar subjects for five or ten minutes — using our own personal thoughts, memories, and interests. We offer free notebooks to new members, so all you will need to bring is a smile on your face and your favorite writing pen.
The name Kairos suits us because our time together is meant to be calming and relaxing -- a bright spot in today's fast-paced world.
If you’re interested in joining Kairos, or just want to learn more about what we do, please contact Peggy Macpherson at pmacpherson@comcast.net.

Weekly Bible Reading cards are now available in the narthex. The readings, based on the Revised Common Lectionary, are arranged for you to read on a daily basis leading up to the Sunday for which they are assigned.
Our hope is that this provides a way for you to deepen your knowledge, prepare for Sunday worship, and become more familiar with themes of the church calendar.
Please be sure to pick up a card to use as a bookmark and to help keep track of your readings.

The gifts God gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some ministers, and teachers, (some Stephen Ministers), to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
|
There are periods when one feels empty or broken-hearted, or times when there are too many questions and not enough answers. The help of a Stephen Minister may be part of the answers. We are not the solution, but we can be the sounding board for your inner thoughts and search for direction. We can walk with you in search for answers.
A Stephen Minister is a layperson who will provide one-to-one Christian care to confused or hurting people in St. Paul’s and the community. Look over the list of needs for care. Are there people with needs described? Yes, there are many people who have these needs. You or someone you know may be one of them.
Please take a moment to reach out to us. Your information is confidential. Our contact with the care receiver is confidential. And the care by the Stephen Minister is confidential. We know that people in need of care suffer alone and may slip through the cracks. The Priests and congregation may not have the means or capacity to reach out to hurting people long term. This is why St. Paul’s has a Stephen Ministries program. When necessary, we can be there for the long haul.
If you know of a situation where we might help, please contact Rusty or Monna, call the Church Office (615-790-0527), leave a confidential email (sm@stpaulsfranklin.com) or contact one of the Stephen Ministers below.

Bicentennial Society
Celebrating St. Paul’s 200th Anniversary
| |
In 2017 the Bicentennial Society was formed to plan the commemoration of the church’s 200th anniversary in 2027.
The Society is laying the groundwork for the ongoing work of various committees. To date, we are planning a year-long celebration for 2027 with different monthly themes. We will involve the entire Franklin community in plans leading up to our Bicentennial year. Each of the next six years will be focused on specific details of the master plan for St. Paul’s 200th Celebration.
If you’d like to take part in this historic event, please join the Bicentennial Society today. Your $1,000 pledge—due in 2027—will help fund the bicentennial and its ancillary events. To join, visit stpaulsfranklin.com/give. Committees are also looking for help with community relations, event planning, and technology.
To learn more, please contact members of the Historic Committee: Scott Smith, Melanie Lampertz, Kathy Ulezelski, Libby Sullivan, Greer Carlisle, Cindy Thomsen, Pam Horne, Virginia Callicott, Pat McCracken, Mike Wesson, Jesse Tumblin, Rusty McCown, Rector.
