Great schools,
great students
| Stanford, Harvard, MIT, every UC and CSU campus, Princeton, Dartmouth, Yale, Brown, Columbia, University of Chicago, Rice, USC, Pitzer, Pomona, Swarthmore... these are just some of the schools that accepted members of the Class of 2012 from Harbor, Santa Cruz and Soquel High schools. [Read the full list here]
In our travels around the country, we hear a common refrain from college admissions counselors: students from Santa Cruz City Schools are well-prepared, well-rounded, motivated and reflect the diversity of our community.
So what is it about our students' college success that rivals and even surpasses more prestigious and recognized schools? There are many ingredients- great programs, high expectations coupled with strong support, and a culture that encourages students to believe in doing and being their best.
It's also about the community that surrounds our schools. Santa Cruz believes in great neighborhood schools. You all have a chance to demonstrate that belief again on June 5th. Please show your pride in the Class of 2012 and support for the classes of 2013 and beyond by voting YES on Measures I and J next Tuesday.
Congratulations to each and every graduate. We are very, very proud of you!
Suz Howells, President Santa Cruz Education Foundation
