Summer Worship Hours

Beginning May 26 through Sept. 1, summer worship service hours will be in effect with two services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. We will have childcare during the 10:30 a.m. service in Room 105. There will be no Christian Formation classes during this time. 

CELEBRATIONS & MEMORIALS

We celebrate the marriage of John Richmond Donnelly, son of Marjorie and Gerald Donnelly, to Deanna Elizabeth White, on May 4, 2024.


We pray for the soul of Kenneth Lee Cloninger Jr., husband of Susan, who died May 4, 2024.

Price Scholarship Award

Anna Watt Vannoy, daughter of Elizabeth Watt Vanoy and Brad Vannoy, is the recipient of the 2024 Price Scholarship. Anna will graduate with an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Page High School and plans to attend Duke University in the fall. She hopes to major in Political Science.

The Philadelphia Eleven Film Screening: May 9 at 7 p.m.

St. Andrews is hosting a film screening of The Philadelphia Eleven, which is a documentary that captures the courage of 11 women who defied norms 50 years ago to become Episcopal priests. Their legacy continues to inspire the ongoing battle for women's rights in the church.

Faith And Grief Group Meets Tomorrow

The pain of grief can be intense and lingering, calling for ongoing support. Join Holy Trinity’s Faith and Grief gathering tomorrow, May 9, noon - 1 p.m., in Broome Hall to share fellowship and personal stories. Register and order lunch here.

Thursday Night Walks

The Thursday Night Walks are back! Meet at 6 p.m. in the back parking lot of Holy Trinity. We will walk a few miles with the opportunity for a post-walk dinner at the Corner Slice.

CAN DO Sunday is May 19

Holy Trinity partners with One Step Further to help stock their Community Support and Nutrition Program. On the third Sunday of the month, you can bring grocery items to church.


Pick up a bag and shopping suggestions after all services this Sunday, May 12 for collection on May 19.

The New Day Singers' Spring Concert is May 12

The New Day Singers' spring concert is Sunday, May 12 at 6 pm in the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church sanctuary. Join this 6-voice a cappella ensemble (three of which currently sings or has sung in the Holy Trinity choir) as they present Echoes of Eternity: Melodies for a New Day, a collection of both classic and newfound pieces exploring the different aspects of what makes us all human—love, loss, connection, joy, humor, and hope. The concert is free, and donations are welcome.

Healing Meditation and Compline Service On Zoom May 13

Compline, a service to close the day, is offered the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Dr. Bev Vaughn opens with a short healing service incorporating various types of meditative practices such as mindfulness and Reiki followed by Spiritual Director Gale Robins leading Compline. Wednesday Night Supper on May 15

Please sign up by Monday, May 13 for the May 15 Wednesday Night Supper, held in Haywood Duke Room, 5:30-7 p.m. The menu is: baked penne pasta, Caesar salad, and herb bread; kids menu: pizza rolls, tater tots; dessert for all. The cost is $10/adult, $6/child, $25/family cap.

Labor of Love Support Group Meets May 16

The Labor of Love Support Group will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 in Roe Library. The support and networking group is for those who are caring for aging or chronically ill family members or friends. To learn more, contact Maureen Flak at maureen@holy-trinity.com

Women's Fellowship Dinner May 20

The next Women’s Fellowship Dinner is Monday, May 20 from 6-8 p.m. in Haywood Duke. The speaker is Riley Walker, aka Mr. Riley, who will share how the Episcopal Church has impacted his life and fostered his lifelong love of music. The menu includes Chicken Parmesan with pasta and marinara sauce, Greek salad, garlic herb bread, and dessert.. (gluten-free option available; indicate in sign-up). Dinner is $15 or $18 with wine. Holy Trinity Day School is Hiring!

Holy Trinity Day School is currently seeking dynamic, nurturing, creative individuals for positions as Associate Teacher for the upcoming 2024- 2025 school year. Hours are 8:30 to 1:30. Holy Trinity Day School offers an exceptional half-day program for young children ages 3 months through five years of age. The appropriate candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, dedication, warmth, love, empathy, and sensitivity in working with young children, their parents, and other staff members. SERVICE IN THE CHURCH & COMMUNITY

Take 5 Minutes to Be the Voice of Christ in North Carolina!

This Sunday, May 12, 10 - 11 a.m., Loggia

 

The Holy Trinity community is the Voice of Christ advocating for our homeless neighbors with North Carolina legislators. We need 50 people to take only 5 minutes this Sunday to write a short note asking our legislators to act on behalf of ALL God’s Beloved Children, especially our neighbors who are homeless or who fear losing their housing.

 

Tables will be set up on the loggia and postcards will be provided. Thank you for speaking loudly on behalf of our neighbors!  

Be a Host Family During Stillpoint

Our Stillpoint service on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. in All Saints Chapel is the chance to find that "still point" in the middle of a busy week. There is also a ministry opportunity for families. As a Stillpoint host family, you will greet and hand out bulletins, read the prayers of the people, and bring communion gifts forward. Sign up here. 

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY UPDATES

Sunday School Over for the Season; Children's Chapel Continues through May 19

The Parenting Class, Children’s Sunday School, and Youth Sunday School have ended for the year and will resume in the fall.


Children Pre-K - 3rd grade are welcome to attend Children's Chapel during the 9 a.m. service. They join their parents in church during the Peace for the remainder of the service. We will continue meeting through May 19 in Room 211. Beginning May 26, we go to summer worship service hours with two services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. We will have childcare during the 10:30 a.m. service in Room 105. Children who usually attend Children's Chapel and need childcare can attend the nursery in Room 105 or they are always welcome in church!

REGISTER FOR VBS!

Registration OPEN for Vacation Bible School, June 17 - 20, 2024

VBS is open to rising four-year-old Pre-K through rising 5th graders. Rising 6th graders and older can serve as Junior Shepherds. With a theme of "Compassion Camp: What Every Living Thing Needs," participants will explore what all living things need to live - shelter, food, water, air, and community - and how they can have compassion for all of God's creation.


Cost is $75 per child until May 3, and $85 per child after May 3. Junior Shepherds $35. Adult and youth volunteers needed! Children whose parents volunteer all week attend Vacation Bible School for free. Register here. Contact Marjorie at marjorie@holy-trinity.com to volunteer. 

CELEBRATING THE CLASS OF 2024

Throughout this graduation season, we will be celebrating our graduating high school seniors. These youth have walked their spiritual journey with us as they've grown in years and in grace. As they leave us for college, adventures and careers, their hearts will remain within the Holy Trinity family forever and we will joyously welcome them when they come home.

David Campagna 

David is a student athlete at Northern Guilford High School. He played on the Soccer Team for 4 years, ran on the Track Team for 2 years and is now on the inaugural men's Volleyball Team. David was inducted into the National Honor Society and the NGHS Beta Club, recognizing his leadership and community service volunteer activities. He works part time at Harris Teeter and Blue Kangaroo Pack Outz (a moving company). In the Fall, David plans to attend NC State University and potentially major in Finance. 

Keller Aucoin 

Keller Aucoin will graduate from the International Baccalaureate Program at Page High School. She will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall where she plans to double major in Art History and Chemistry on the pre-med track with plans to become a neonatologist. While attending Page, Keller played varsity volleyball and softball and led a number of clubs including the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION

Where Do My Children Go On Sunday Mornings?

  • Nursery Care for birth through 4-year Pre-K returns to 8:45-11:15 a.m. (during the 9 a.m. service and the Sunday school hour) in Room 105. During Sunday school, children will sing and listen to a Bible story.
  • Children’s Chapel offered at the 9 a.m. service for four-year Pre-K through 3rd grade in Room 211. Please send children with money for the offering, which is collected each Sunday and added to the offering in the church. Children will join their parents in the church at the Peace.

 

Try An Adult Formation Class Sunday Morning

  • Adult Education Series with Dr. Sandie Gravett, 10:15 a.m. - 11 a.m. in Haywood Duke. This Sunday will cover A Primer on Anti-Semitism. We will consider what anti-semitism is, how it relates to the state of Israel, and how various Christian communities over time have been part of the problem.
