Our Father in Heaven
Each June brings us Father’s Day, the 16th of this year. Do we give much thought to God being our Father? Do we think of Him as a kind, patient, persistent Father, or a no-fun disciplinarian?
To know God as our Father is to love Him. The Bible writers record the amazing, real history of God working patiently with humanity to save us from ourselves repeatedly, from Genesis to Revelation!
Our heavenly Father commends His love toward us by sending Jesus to incarnate into the human race. Jesus gave His perfect life at Calvary to both provide forgiveness and give us victory over sin. Did our heavenly Father suffer at Calvary as Jesus did?
Picture this: Psalm 18:9 tells us that darkness is under His feet when God comes to Earth. God was there at Calvary. The region surrounding Jerusalem was dark from noon until 3 p.m. (Matt 27:45). The darkness protected humanity from being destroyed by His glory. Veiled by darkness, our heavenly Father stood by, fulfilling the agreement from the Earth’s foundation that He would provide Himself a lamb (Gen 22:8). See His arms encircle the intense darkness around the cross, straining yet holding Himself back as if to say “I can’t help you right now Son, to this we agreed! Darkness hides Me from You yet remember who I AM!”
Jesus gained victory by faith and with a strong voice, as the darkness broke, He trumpeted, “It’s finished (the plan)! Father, into
your hands I commend my spirit” (trust you with my life) [Jn 19:30, Lk 23:46]. No matter the situation, we can always trust our heavenly Father. Thank you for trusting God with your life and supporting Strong Tower Radio, helping proclaim His true character as a loving Father to the world!
