ConnectOregon brings more opportunities for trails
|
Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, along with several local leaders, are celebrating the idea of competing for ConnectOregon funds to complete a regional trail system. WEA Executive Director and Metro Councilor Kathryn Harrington (photo to the left) were part of a group, who gathered along the Waterhouse Trail in north Beaverton this week to see for themselves how the system could connect employment centers, housing, shopping, education and public transit. The more diverse opportunities available could alleviate some of the congestion on the roads, allowing for more freight mobility. THPRD is currently working on a 10-mile backbone trail system running from Scholls Ferry to the south to Bethany to the north. Senators Mark Hass and Tobias Read will be out pedaling their message again tomorrow as they invite others to join them along the Fanno Creek Trail. |
