Dear Southernites and Friends:
 
On Sunday, our St. Martin Parish Alumni Chapter President, Etta Brew, hosted the chapter's annual scholarship banquet in Breaux Bridge.  Federation Executive Director Derrick Warren inspired the audience of students, alumni, friends and supporters as the keynote speaker.  Another great chapter offered scholarships to high school students to recruit them to Southern University.  In the meantime, the downtown Baton Rouge landscape was changing as the Southern University signs and logo for our new  downtown location were being placed on the building.  Downtown Baton Rouge never looked so good.  It was a proud moment to see Southern University's name and a blue and gold Jaguar officially placed on the six-story building.

Southern Prepares to Compete
at 28th annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Championship

Southern University-Baton Rouge will go head to head with teams from 48 fellow (HBCUs) on April 8-12, 2017 on the American Motor Co., campus in Torrance, California. Southern University has the opportunity to win a $75,000 institutional grant from Honda.
Southern will be represented by Myeisha L. Webb, a Senior majoring in Elementary Education from Baton Rouge, LA, Terrence J. Curry, a Senior majoring in Biology & Pre-Med from Newton, MS, Kelvin  P. Wells, Jr., a Sophomore majoring in Pol. Sci. & Int'l. Relations from Baton Rouge, LA, and Joyner Deamer, a Sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering from Carbondale, IL. Deadra James Mackie will coach the team.

Congratulations to the 2017-2018 SGA President & Miss Southern!
SGA President - Armond Duncan, a native of Alexandria, La. He is a junior double marketing and business management major.

Miss Southern -  Felise Thompson-Doyle, a resident of Shreveport, La. She is a senior majoring in biology and pre-medicine.
