Producers' Notes

We got this!!!

We’re halfway to our concert and it’s great to hear us getting better each week and moving through so many songs in one rehearsal. Hats off to Mike for that. And of course, Ruth Roper!

A reminder that whether you can read music or not, there are a number of resources available to help us continue to learn the songs, from the recordings for each part on the website, the CD’s, recordings of the rehearsals and video playlists of our songs in the arrangements we are singing. If we each put in the time, we will continue to get better! We got this!!!

Mike's Notes

We're on to week 6!

You've been making terrific progress with our notes and rhythms, and we're in great shape for the performance coming up. Over the next three weeks, we'll be starting to memorize our pieces and run them all the way through.

I've decided to focus this week on songs that need a little extra love and attention to feel great about. If you have a little time to listen to these before rehearsal, it will really help us be productive!

  • Julian of Norwich (quick check in)
  • April Come She Will
  • Seasons of Love
  • Try to Remember
  • Ashokan Farewell
  • Every Day
  • (If Time) Turn, Turn, Turn

In addition, I've assigned solos for our concert season, and you can view them here. Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned! You did a terrific, brave job in coming to sing for me, and I am proud of all the talent, passion, and enthusiasm we have in this group. If you were not selected for a solo this time...please don't despair! We had nearly 40 people audition for solos, and there just aren't enough slots in the concert to accommodate everyone. I hope to see you again in a future season to find just the right opportunity for you. We're also still looking for song leaders for "April Come She Will" and a soloist for "Every Day," so keep those opportunities in mind if you'd like.

I can't wait to continue making progress with you next week. Keep bringing that joy and enthusiasm, and we'll be in great shape!

~ Mike

Be a Mystic Ambassador!

We need EACH of you to be a Mystic Ambassador and help us spread the word about our concert!

You can…

  • Post our concert flyers on bulletin boards at your gym, library, coffee shop, wherever you can. If the large version won’t fit, post the mini-flyer instead.

  • Forward the digital invitation (evite) you’ll receive this Sunday to friends and family, not only locally but far and wide since anyone, anywhere can watch via livestream!

  • Engage on our Facebook page and on Instagram. Like our page. Share the concert flyer when we post it online. Comment on postings and reels that we add to our page. The more likes and shares on our posts, the more the Facebook algorithm works in our favor, pushing out our posts to a wider audience.

Section leaders will hold (optional) sectional reviews throughout the season, from mid-April through concert week. Information about where and when will be posted on the Section Resource pages on the website.

For Virtual Singers

Livestream Instructions & Tips

Welcome Virtual Singers!!

We are so glad you are joining us, and look forward to having you there "with us" in the rehearsal hall!

What you will need:

  • A computer/laptop (recommended) We recommend your computer or laptop - the bigger the screen, and the better your speakers, the more you will feel "with" us. But a tablet, ipad or phone will work, too.

  • Headphones, Earbuds or External Speakers (highly recommended). The better your speakers, the more you will hear the director and singers in the room.

  • A place to sit and sing comfortably. We suggest an upright chair, similar to what you would find at rehearsal. A soft chair or couch is not as conducive to good singing.

How to tune into the Livestream:

At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, click the video preview or link below, and you'll be with us! Each week, we'll post the livestream link here in News & Notes, and on the website, here

If we lose the Livestream signal:

Occasionally, we lose the livestream signal due to a poor internet connection. If that happens, go to the "Just in case" backup link below. We'll try to be back up and running asap!

How to watch the video after the rehearsal:

If you miss the Livestream on Tuesday night, it will be available on our website and the YouTube Playlist after rehearsal.
