New Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

NEW VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL COACH

Former Creighton Bluejay Justin Carter Hired as Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at OCA

Basketball players and their parents of all OCA ages are invited to meet our new head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.

Meeting: Monday, April 29th at 7:00 pm in the Cafeteria

Former Creighton Bluejay basketball player Justin Carter has been hired as the new varsity boy's basketball coach for the Omaha Christian Academy Eagles.

Carter was a starting player for the Bluejays in 2008-09 and 2009-10. A player known for his hard work and competitiveness, Carter averaged almost 9 points and 6 rebounds per contest over two years with the Jays, playing for then-coach Dana Altman.

Carter then went on to play professionally overseas for 13 seasons. Carter recently retired from professional basketball and started his company Pro Vision Basketball camps/leagues as well as the non-profit Envision Hope program, both located in Elkhorn.

Oregon University assistant basketball coach Brian Fish says this about Coach Carter:

"Justin is a player that has achieved all his success through hard work, terrific effort and competing every day in practice. Having your young baller around Justin on the court and off will only enhance their ability as not only a player, but also as a person. There are very few coaches out there that can affect a player on and off the court equally!"

Monday night, April 29th in the Cafeteria at 7:00 pm

All parents and students are invited.

OCA Service Day

OCA SERVICE DAY

We are so excited about our first annual OCA Service Day on Wednesday, May 1!

Here’s an overview of what our students will be doing that day:

7th & 8th graders will be serving at Open Door Mission in the morning and then going to Imago Dei Church in Omaha (2100 S 51st Street) to assist with building cleanup projects and prayer walking the surrounding neighborhood.

9th & 10th graders will begin at Imago Dei Church with landscaping projects and prayer walking the surrounding neighborhood. They will then go to Open Door Mission to serve for the afternoon shift.

11th & 12th graders will begin at Imago Dei Church where they will load food bags and Bibles to take to Sienna Francis House to distribute during the morning. They will then return to Imago Dei Church to help organize the food pantry and prayer walk the surrounding neighborhood.

We have several parents who will be volunteering with us for the day, making our adult to student ratio in each group approximately 1:4.

All students will return to OCA by 3:30 PM for regular school dismissal.

All students will need to bring a sack lunch that day!

Permission slips went home on Thursday, April 25. If they have not been returned yet, please get them in to Mrs. Colegrove by Monday, April 29.
