CLUBS HAPPENINGS
Quick Club Quote: The Club has been and continues to be so much more for my sons than child care. We are so grateful for this amazing place. Club Mom of two members in Wayne after-school program.
Holidays Celebrations: December provided plenty of celebrations at our Boys & Girls Clubs! Our Pre-K four students at Pequannock had a visit from the Polar Express and received tickets for an imaginary ride as they enjoyed hot chocolate and delicious treats. There were visits from Archer, our Elf on a Shelf, making reindeer food and minute-to-win-it games. The Wayne Pre-K four children learned about different holiday traditions. The children lit the menorah, ate latkes, spun a dreidel for Hanukkah, decorated a tree, sang carols, and visited Santa Claus for Christmas.
Welcome, Miss H. The BGCNWNJ welcomes Michelle Hirs, Miss H., who began as our new Pre-K four head teacher at our Pequannock Club in late November. With a bachelor's degree in education, Miss H. has worked with preschool and school-age children for six years. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and enriching learning environment. Her dedication to nurturing children and promoting holistic development will make a lasting, positive impact on the young minds under her care. Miss H. also manages the before and after care program at our Pequannock Club. The children love her, and we are lucky to have Michelle Hirs as a valued addition to our talented team.
Go Panthers: Congratulations to the 3rd Grade Girls Travel Basketball team in Pequannock, their first year at the travel level. These hard-working girls are off to an amazing start with wins for their first three games. Way to go Panthers and congratulations to your awesome coaches!
Wanaque BGC Bucks! Our Clubs encourage and reward children in our care to promote positive behavior. Our Wanaque after-school program has adopted "BGC Bucks" to reinforce rule-following and positive behavior. The children earn "bucks" when they follow Club rules, are helpful to other members and their counselors, and exhibit exemplary behavior. They can also lose bucks through negative behavior. At the end of the month, the children go "shopping" at our monthly store for toys and treats with the bucks they earned. We are happy to report that the children are motivated to do well and enjoy their monthly shopping days.
Partners for Good: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest New Jersey is very grateful for the generous support this past year from our friends at SavATree. Our members benefit through SavATree's commitment to our local communities and a brighter and more promising future for our children. THANK YOU!
