Looking forward to 2022!

As the year winds down, I want to take the time to thank all of our partners and supporters for working with us in 2021 to make Stamford a better, more equitable place for children.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we have achieved many successes together over the past months. Hundreds of community members participated in Race Equity trainings conducted in partnership with Stamford Stands Against Racism. Many more educators and community members have been trained in Restorative Practices, early literacy, and early childhood. Parents of young children are more aware of their children's development and growth through Sparkler. And new cohorts of Stamford students benefited from our Summer Literacy Initiative and Bridge to College.

While the search process for a new President is under way, we are happy to announce that we have three new staff coming on board soon—a new Community Coordinator, Communications Manager, and Parent Ambassador. Look for short bios in an upcoming newsletter!

Remember that the most up-to-date information about what's going on with SC2C and our community partners can be found by liking us on Facebook, and following us on Instagram and Twitter.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and best wishes for the New Year!

It’s amazing what one parent can do!

The Stamford Public Education Foundation is pleased to offer the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) for parents, grandparents, guardians, and others to become leaders and advocates for children.

PLTI is currently recruiting for participants and will start in late January.

PLTI offers a highly stimulating curriculum that boosts parents' leadership and civic skills to address issues such as the opportunity gap, accessible child healthcare, neighborhood safety, and the significance of parental engagement, to name a few.

Together parents, will emerge as strong leaders and advocates for all children.

The training will be offered in a hybrid model, with a virtual orientation on January 19th, an in-person retreat on Saturday, January 22nd and virtual classes continuing on Wednesday evenings for 20 weeks until June. There will also be an in-person Saturday session on March 26th and optional monthly family dinners. Class is from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm, beginning with networking and social time from 5:30-6 pm.
