New Administrative Team
We are pleased to announce two promotions and three new team members!
Elyse Waksman , Executive Director (former Program Manager)

With four years of involvement at LVGW - tutoring, volunteering at events, teaching, and managing programs - Elyse is excited to step into this leadership position. In addition to her experience with LVGW, Elyse has taught ESOL to Ethiopian refugees in Jerusalem, taught art in an after-school program for youth in Worcester, interned at the MA State House with Senator Harriette Chandler, and coordinated a YWCA program for people with chronic illnesses. Elyse holds a Master's degree in Community Development and Planning and a Bachelor's degree in International Development and Social Change, both from Clark University. Elyse looks forward to helping LVGW write its next chapter by collaborating with others to advance student programming and strengthen connections within the community.
Lena Webb , Literacy Academy Coordinator (former Administrative/Program Assistant)

Lena has years of experience in adult education, program evaluation, and teaching ESOL classes. Lena holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Bridgewater State University, a TESOL Certificate from the Oxford Seminar program in Boston, and is a current Master's degree candidate in the International Community Development program at Northwest University. Lena is excited to work more closely with LVGW's teachers and hopes to bolster the Literacy Academy programming with new ideas and approaches.
John W. Riley , Volunteer Coordinator

John grew up in a family of 16 children in a three-family home in the Lincoln Street area of Worcester. John attended Holy Name High School and Assumption College, where he received a B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Education. Throughout his career in education, John has served in different roles: teacher, assistant principal, and principal in many school districts throughout Massachusetts. John has three Master's degrees -- Special Education, Divinity, and Educational Administration. In recent years, John taught SAT to high school students and tutored ESOL students in China. John currently teaches ESOL to adults part-time at QCC. As the new Volunteer Coordinator for LVGW, John is hoping to meet as many of the current tutors as possible and continue to grow our volunteer base. John lives with his wife Mei in West Boylston. We're excited to have you on board, John!
Jeffrey Busha , Grant Writer

Jeffrey has more than 30 years of successful communications and fundraising experience in private and nonprofit firms, higher education, and state government.
