September 11, 2001
The horror of September 11 of 2001 forever changed the United States. As a result of the deadly terrorist attack, 2,996 people died. Phone calls, texts, videos, and statements from people involved in the tragedy were heartbreaking and opened the doors to an intensive fight against terrorism. Operation Enduring Freedom began on October 7, 2001. Less than two months later, US forces had removed the Taliban from operational power. Ten years later, Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the attacks, was killed by US forces. Twenty years later, the troops were removed from Afghanistan.
This tragic story is better told by diving into the stories of those who were there, those affected, and those who still today bring awareness to this event. Below, we have compiled books, movies, documentaries, and events that can help us understand that moment better.
