Several new inclusive playgrounds and centers have opened, or are being planned throughout Long Island. On Nottinghill Drive in Massapequa, a new playground features appropriate and engaging sensory equipment for children with special needs. In Brookville, Wheatley Farms & Arts Center will soon welcome people of all abilities to grow their interest in nature-inspired activities.

Did you know you might have as little as two minutes to escape from a house fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds? The ability to get out of a home during a fire depends on early warning from alarms and advance planning. One of the most important things to do is keep fresh batteries in all smoke and CO detectors. The easy way to remember to change batteries is to do it twice yearly, when the clocks change. The next clock change is on Sunday, November 6. Mark that date!
