Our next book club meeting will be March 16th from 4-5pm.
We will be limiting attendance to 25 people, however we will keep a list of interested alternates in case one of the first 25 to sign up can't make it. Because of the 25 person limit we ask that if you sign up and are unable to attend that you please call and let us know so that your spot won't go to waste.
If you want to sign up to attend, please give us a call at the store 530-272-2131 or sign up in person. Those are the only two ways to get on the list, not via email or social media, so we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Growing up Black in rural North Carolina, Ray McMillian’s life is already mapped out. But Ray has a gift and a dream—he’s determined to become a world-class professional violinist, and nothing will stand in his way. Not his mother, who wants him to stop making such a racket; not the fact that he can’t afford a violin suitable to his talents; not even the racism inherent in the world of classical music. When he discovers that his beat-up, family fiddle is actually a priceless Stradivarius, all his dreams suddenly seem within reach, and together, Ray and his violin take the world by storm. But on the eve of the renowned and cutthroat Tchaikovsky Competition—the Olympics of classical music—the violin is stolen, a ransom note for five million dollars left in its place. Without it, Ray feels like he's lost a piece of himself. As the competition approaches, Ray must not only reclaim his precious violin, but prove to himself—and the world—that no matter the outcome, there has always been a truly great musician within him.

With fresh and revealing information on every page A Restless, Hungry Feeling tells the story of Dylan's meteoric rise to fame: his arrival in early 1961 in New York, where he is embraced by the folk scene; his elevation to spokesman of a generation whose protest songs provide the soundtrack for the burgeoning Civil Rights movement; his alleged betrayal when he 'goes electric' at Newport in 1965; his subsequent controversial world tour with a rock 'n' roll band; and the recording of his three undisputed electric masterpieces: Bringing it All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde.

Berry declined to call himself an artist, shrugging that he was good at what he did. But the man's achievement was the rarest kind, the kind that had social and political resonance, the kind that made America want to get up and dance. At long last, Chuck Berry brings the man and the music together.

Welcome to Kids’ Corner where we highlight some of our favorite kids books coming out this month!

"Power comes in many forms, including a scared kid with a clarinet. From the deft and nuanced depictions of mental illness to the instantly familiar family dynamics, THE SCROLLS OF CHAOS shows the potent universality of deeply personal stories. By writing a story that is honest and human and true, Chapman has created characters that every reader can relate to and illustrated why myths endure and continue to resonate across continents and centuries. Fans of Percy Jackson, Riley Oh, and Barclay Thorne will love rooting for the Xu sisters as they face off against the legendary demon of Chaos, attempt to save the mythological world, and learn how important it is to just keep trying because you can only be brave if you are first afraid."

Soontornvat conjured a beautiful world where powerful Guardians protect the balance of nature, a world that any reader would love to escape to. This is an enchanting start to an exciting new series."

"A fascinating exploration of fate and how cyclical histories can either be instructions on self-condemnation or a guide to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. The world-building is lush and immersive with tantalizing hints of things to come in this series. Whitten has shown a gift for creating morally complicated and deeply compelling characters with her Wilderwood duology and she manages to accomplish that feat again here. Lore is an enthralling narrator and an interesting take on the “chosen one” trope. She is saved by choosing herself over some amorphous greater good and I cannot wait to see how she deals with the repercussions of that choice. Sure to appeal to fans of BLACK SUN and LEGENDBORN."

Daughter of the Moon Goddess begins an enchanting duology which weaves ancient Chinese mythology into a sweeping adventure of immortals and magic, of loss and sacrifice—where love vies with honor, dreams are fraught with betrayal, and hope emerges triumphant.
