New York Minute!!! 3/20/24
Matthew 6:25-34 (KJV)
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL.......................
AND NO, THIS IS NOT A SERMON ON “MERE” HUMAN POLITICS!!!!!!
When all is said in done in THIS life, the most important topic or subject is whatever applies to YOUR life in there HERE AND NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you or a loved one is suffering from cancer or serious, life threatening disease or any other MAJOR debilitation in YOUR life or a close loved one, little else activity outside one's famiy takes a distant second place-AMEN!!??
I can PERSONALLY testify that when my dear mother died many years ago, I well remember paying little attention to such trivia knowledge of sports or politics or current events.
In times of great distress and PERSONAL tragedy, THIS world and its happenings dim in comparison.
I preach today's sermon, if necessary, to MYSELF, if no other.
As a long time Pastor, I am and have been “well acquainted with GRIEF!!!”
A majority of the calls and requests I deal with are negative-much like an insurance agent rarely receives good news when contacted!! I often end a conversation with others with “DON'T CALL ME-I'LL CALL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
By NOT calling me often means things are well..............!!!???
I am doing very well, PRAISE THE LORD!! I feel good, am healthy, my bills are up to date, I am happy, and for the most part, excited about tomorrow.
BUT, I am equally aware of Solomon's Writing:
Ecclesiastes 7:14 (KJV)
14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
In fact, I wish I were NOT aware of his Words...............!!!
Don Henley, of The Eagles fame, wrote this lyric in his song, NEW YORK MINUTE:

In that same poetic writing he said:

TODAY, if YOU are suffering with fear and/or doubt, THANK GOD for GOD'S WORD AND WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The future can be very FEARFUL!!! We KNOW NOT what the doctor report will reveal, whether our job is secure, our monies enough for tomorrow, when we or a loved will die and from what????
CLING TO/HOLD ON TO GOD'S PROMISE AND PROMISES:
Deuteronomy 33:25 (KJV)
25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.
“AS THY DAYS, SO SHALL THY STRENGTH BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
AMEN AND AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
