Monthly Pupdate - all the mews you can use

January 2024

WELCOME 2024!

I am excited to announce the launch of our monthly newsletter, the “Monthly Pupdate: All the Mews You Can Use.” This newsletter will keep you up-to-date on all the latest happenings at Homeward Pet Adoption Center; featuring stories of successful adoptions, updates on our programs, pet related tips and tricks, and information on upcoming events and opportunities.

At Homeward Pet, we are committed to providing a safe and loving environment for the homeless dogs and cats in our care. Our goal is to transform their lives and give these animals a second chance by providing them with the love and support they need to find their forever homes. You help us do this!

Our hope is that this monthly newsletter will inspire you with even more ways to share in our mission to help animals in need. Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Nanette McCann

Pet Retention Resources

The decision to surrender a pet is not an easy one. If you are struggling with the decision, we understand. Pet ownership can be a challenge at the best of times. It can be overwhelming when you are faced with a situation or behavior that you've never encountered before. We are here to offer hope and resources to resolve your challenges and help keep your pet in your home.

Whether your challenges have to do with an escapee, inappropriate house-soiling, interactions with family members, housing, or veterinary costs, we have extensive resources on our site to get you started.

If the resources on our site and the associated links to other sites don't give enough clarity for your specific situation, we also offer free behavior consultations via phone or email to help you find the specific advice you need. Our team of specialists have direct experience with many of the behaviors of cats and dogs that lead to shelter surrenders. You are in capable and caring hands when you reach out.

ADOPT US

During her lengthy time in foster, Tabitha has learned about trust, how to handle overwhelming situations, the joy of blankets and toys and celebrating holidays.

She's turned into a master cuddler and connoisseur of treats. She's learned that the muzzle coming out means that she's going to go somewhere fun out of the house and that Sniff Spots are just the best!

She's ready to find her home. Can you help us find that for her?

LEARN MORE

Despite their monster names, these two nine-month olds couldn't be less monstrous.

Quite shy, they will hide as they figure you out but, once you're on their approved list, they are playful and cuddly and silly little beings.

They are a bonded pair and we're hoping to find these siblings a calm home together. We do not know how they are with other cats or dogs.

HAPPY TAILS

Echo and Emma - Happy Tail

"In June of 2021 my family adopted Echo and Emma, now Pippin and Nola. Those two little loves have changed our lives for the better and are the sweetest most spoilt cats I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Nola loves belly rubs, chin scritches, hair ties, and purring. This sweet girl loves to walk in between your legs and give kisses.

Pippin loves chin scritches, sitting in laps, impromptu flopping, and his mouse toy from the shelter.

Thank for taking such good care of these love bugs while they were in your care! "

Kalani Happy Tail

"Kalani (right) is doing fantastic!

She loves her 4 year old fur sister Willow (humane society rescue).

My brother was at Marymoor with his pups Huck (adopted from Homeward Pet years ago) and Jack (rescue) and ran into another K pup owner. They exchanged numbers and Kalani now gets to have play dates with her sister Letty.

We joke about trying to organize a K pup reunion.

Thanks for all that you all do.

~ Katie"

ABOUT HOMEWARD PET

Homeward Pet Adoption Center is one of the leading non-profit, no-kill animal shelters in Washington State.

Our mission is to transform the lives of cats and dogs in need through compassionate medical care, positive behavior training, and successful adoption while building a more humane community.

Homeward Pet is a private organization. We receive no state or federal funding. Your donations help us to grow a robust program that spans beyond simply intake and adoption. Enlisting the principles and practices of Fear Free Sheltering, the animals in our care are assessed as individuals and receive behavioral, medical, and in-home foster care as needed. Because of the generous support of donors and volunteers, we can care for animals that others may not have the resources for.

In addition, we provide free behavior consultations and low cost spay/neuter services to keep animals out of the shelter system and in their homes. We can work with owners to find a way to keep their pets. If an animal must be rehomed, we offer Home to Home to help owners match up directly with new adopters so that the animal never has to spend a day in the shelter.
