The Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) has proposed a new rule that would reform the permitting process for new energy projects. The proposed rule would revise the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and is aimed at modernizing and accelerating environmental reviews, encouraging early community engagement, accelerating America’s clean energy future, strengthening energy security, and advancing environmental justice. According to the administration, $1 billion in funding is included through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to help expedite federal agency permitting.
NEMWI's Weekly Update will not be published again in August and will resume its regular weekly schedule starting on September 5.
