Biden Issues Executive Orders Reversing Trump Environmental Policies
Within several hours of being sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, President Joe Biden signed an array of executive orders, memorandums, and proclamations aimed at undoing certain policies installed by the Trump Administration. Of these actions, several of them directly related to environmental policies, including to:
- Rejoin the Paris climate accords.
- Revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.
- Overturn rollbacks to vehicle emissions standards.
- Reverse the reduction of size of several national monuments in the West.
- Enforce a temporary moratorium on oil and natural gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
- Re-institute a working group on the social costs of greenhouse gasses.
It is anticipated that a significant number of executive actions reversing other Trump Administration policies and actions will follow in the weeks ahead.
