Residential Sidewalk Lighting Focus Group

The City of Beachwood hosted residents from Beachwood Boulevard, Ranch Road, Concord Road and Beacon Drive for a focus group discussion on Feb. 29 regarding a residential sidewalk lighting pilot program. The meeting was led by Mayor Justin Berns, Councilwoman Ali B. Stern, City Administrator Tina Turick and Building Commissioner Brian Roenigk, along with Marty Bursky from Cleveland Lighting and Mike Kachala from Hinkley Light. Members of City Council were present for the meeting. City Council and the administration will use the valuable insights gleaned from this group when evaluating the city's next steps.

All residents are encouraged to visit the Residential Sidewalk Lighting webpage for more information, a video recording of the meeting and a copy of the PowerPoint presentation that was used.

Solar Eclipse Info & Event

The City of Beachwood encourages residents to return home early and/or remain within the city when the solar eclipse day arrives on Monday, April 8. Heavy traffic and delays are expected, please leave additional time if you have an appointment or somewhere to be. The Beachwood Community Services Department is hosting a Beachwood Blackout Watch Party in collaboration with the school district at the Beachwood High School Stadium with eclipse glasses available, sponsored by Crestmont, while supplies last. Many businesses may be closing early and medical facilities may be adjusting appointments. For further details, please visit the city’s website here.

Collaboration Among Economic Development Directors

The City of Beachwood has been organizing meetings for a dynamic group of economic development directors from around the Cleveland area over the past year. The directors have been sharing their knowledge with one another to support key economic development directives within their communities and the greater region. This month, Beachwood brought the group together to tour a soon-to-open Beachwood restaurant, Antica.

We want to thank the cities that attended, including Independence, Mayfield Heights, Shaker Heights, Solon, Strongsville, Warrensville Heights and Westlake.
