Introducing Chroma!
Prism
has taken the guesswork out of creating color combinations for gradient or fade projects. This collection of twelve harmonious colors is designed to work together in any trio, as seen in
Laura Bryant's
design "Curve", which is shown here, featured in
Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 2020.
Curve uses one skein each of three different colors of
Petite Madison, a hand-dyed merino/cashmere/silk blend yarn. Choose three colors next to each other in the color wheel, or venture across the wheel for higher contrasts.

OtterCove Shawlette
by Kris Gregson
Many people have made Kris's
Otter Cove Shawlette, named after a cove in Cambria, in Kris's favorite colors. She thought you might enjoy some different color options for the kit, so we've created some other combinations of
Serena by Manos del Uruguay that work well together in this piece,

Noro Ito
Ito, from our friends at
Noro, is a 100% wool, self striping yarn that features those beautiful, saturated colors they are known for.
As you probably know, the reason Noro looks so different than any other yarn is the way they dye. At Noro, they dye the fibers before it's spun into yarn, so the color is saturated throughout the skein. Mr. Noro also wants his yarns to be as close to the original fiber as possible, so they tend to be a bit more 'rustic' than other yarns due to the minimal processing the fibers are subject to.
Ito is a worsted/aran weight yarn with approximately 440 yards per 200 gram ball!
While supplies last, order three skeins of Ito and get this Poncho pattern free!
|
|
The muted rainbow stripes of Ito are worked horizontally across the lower front border panel in a k4, p2 rib, with the body panel worked vertically from stitches picked up along the front border.
Laura Zukaite
employed a horseshoe cable pattern to the shoulders, which is continued down to the lower edge of the back before ending with a k1, p1 ribbed border.
Finished Measurements
Width across back, including trims: 31” / 78.5 cm
Length 24 1/2” / 62 cm

A Virtual Class!
Join us
Saturday June 20 from 9AM to Noon to learn about
Yarn Substitutions!
Subtitled "Everything you wanted to know about yarn, but were afraid to ask, this popular class will help you see what we do to choose a substitute yarn from your pattern.
You love the pattern, but aren’t sure about the yarn. You love the yarn, but will it work for this pattern? These are issues we face every day in the shop. In this class will unravel the seemingly complex world of yarn substituting. We will explore the numerous types of yarns, yarn weights, composition, yardage requirements, and more! We will look at real world substitutions using projects we’ve made in the shop. In addition, we’ll look at substitution questions brought by you and your fellow attendees! As we’re not actually knitting or crocheting, you won’t need to bring any supplies.

Stitching with Kris!
Join us September 25 - 27 for a relaxing weekend in Cambria
We don't know what the fall will bring to us, but we've decided to go ahead with a weekend event we've been planning.
Imagine spending three days in Cambria with an industry professional and life-long knitter and crocheter. Now imagine this in a beautiful Inn surrounded by people, like you, that also love to knit and crochet. That's the idea behind "Stitching with Kris." Think of it as a weekend knitting group.
We've set this for the fall and made our cancellation policies clear so that we keep everyone's safety and comfort in mind.

Our tree outside the shop needs a new sweater, and we need your help!
Our beloved, and much photographed 'yarn bombed' tree outside the shop needs to be refreshed. The lovely squares all around the tree are getting to the point where we really need to replace it.
We need squares! Make us a 12" square. If it's a little longer, that's ok! Any yarn, though the best would be something like
Berroco Ultra Wool, as it's durable, washable, and holds it shape well over time. We'll take any fiber, any design, any technique! So knit it, crochet it, weave it, whatever makes you happy!
Then drop your square(s) off at the shop, or mail them to us at the address below:
Ball & Skein
4210 Bridge St STE 6
Cambria, CA 93428
Be sure to include your name so we can thank you for them!
We'll let you know when we're ready to decorate the tree.
It won't be soon.
It's always a fun day and we love the help!
