Our Annual Convention is on the horizon, and it is time to start preparing for our upcoming membership count deadline of June 30th. Delegate counts are determined by the total number of Adult members your club has as of June 30, 2023. That date is fast approaching.

According to the 2022 AHA Bylaws, “Member Organizations which have at least ten (10) Adult Members and/or Life Members shall be entitled to be represented at an Annual Convention by one (1) Voting Delegate per thirty-five (35) Adult or Life Members in good standing or part thereof.”

The scale for allotted delegates, as outlined in the 2023 AHA Handbook, is:

• 10-35 Adult members- 1 Delegate
• 36-70 Adult members- 2 Delegates
• 71-105 Adult members- 3 Delegates
• 106-140 Adult members- 4 Delegates
• 141-175 Adult members- 5 Delegates
• 176-210 Adult members- 6 Delegates
• 211-245 Adult members- 7 Delegates
• 246-280 Adult members- 8 Delegates
• 281-315 Adult members- 9 Delegates
• 316-350 Adult members- 10 Delegates
• 351-385 Adult members- 11 Delegates
• 386-420 Adult members- 12 Delegates
• 421-455 Adult members- 13 Delegates

ALL new membership requests and renewals must be received and processed in the office before:

• End of the business day (5 p.m. MST) on Friday, June 30 or
• Via the AHA website by the end of the day Friday, June 30

to ensure each request is added to your club’s delegate count in time. This is the only time AHA has a “received” deadline rather than a “postmarked by” deadline.

Three important points to the co-owner rules:

• Two distinct nonfamily owners may co-own a horse and show that horse in a Junior Owner or Amateur Owner class except that no family member of a professional may enter into this relationship.
• Co-ownership must be listed as an "and" ownership, an "or" ownership does not enable two distinct non-family owners to show in Owner classes.
• The right to show horses in Owner classes when there are two distinct non-family owners, does not extend to the family of these distinct family owners.

ATTENTION: OWNERS OF HALF-ARABIANS

Half-Arabians that are to be shown in the following classes at AHA National Shows must have DNA on file:

• US and Canadian Halter Futurity
• Performance Futurity/Maturity/Derby
• AWPA
• AEPA
• AHPA

DNA type of the horse and the horse's Purebred Arabian parent must be placed on permanent record with the AHA Registry and the horse has been shown to qualify as an offspring of the stated purebred sire or purebred dam through DNA type testing. DNA testing will be at the owner's expense and must be on file with the AHA office before the horse will be eligible to compete. If the DNA is not on file prior to that National Show, the horse is ineligible to be shown and all nomination fees will be forfeited.

BREEDING ENTRY AND HALTER FUTURITY DEAD FOAL CREDIT INFORMATION

In the event that a Breeding Entry does not result in a live foal (i.e., abortion, death of mare, etc.) the fee paid may be transferred to another unborn foal in any following year, provided a signed vet statement (on vet letterhead or official documentation) must be submitted to the AHA office. The vet statement must include the registration number and registered name of the mare and year of foaling. If a foal is born, the

date of foaling and date of death must also be included in the vet statement. Upon receipt of the requested information, AHA can issue a Dead Foal Credit Voucher.

SWEEPSTAKES: A $400 Credit Voucher can be issued in the event the mare does not produce a foal or if a foal is born, but dies within 30 days of foaling. A $200 Dead Foal Credit Voucher can be issued if the death of the foal occurs more than 30 days after parturition but before December 31 of the foaling year. The Credit Voucher can be used towards any future Sweepstakes enrollment.

If the Breeding Entry was placed on a Deferred Billing Agreement, the outstanding balance for that Agreement must be satisfied in full before any consideration of a credit will be made.

Late enrollments are accepted from January 1 to February 15 th of the foaling year. This includes a $150 late fee per Breeding Entry.

US HALTER FUTURITY: A Dead Foal Credit Voucher can be issued for horses enrolled in the US Halter Futurity Program. The Credit must be used the consecutive year. The AHA In-Utero Foal Application, Credit Voucher and $30 processing fee must be submitted by December 31 st of the year the mare is bred.

Late enrollments are accepted from January 1 to February 15 th of the foaling year. This includes $100 late fee per foal for US Halter Futurities.

SHN PERFORMANCE MATURITY PROGRAM DEADLINE APPROACHING

Planning to show your horse in the AOTR Maturity Class at Sport Horse Nationals?

Third payment must be submitted on or before July 1, 2023 (postmarked/electronic transaction dated to the AHA office). Payments that are postmarked/electronic transactions dated after the first of each month will be assessed late fees.

Nominations are allowed with an additional $750 late fee up until the Final Post Entry Close for the National Show and any Program enrollment fees (including late fees) must be paid.

All entries in the Performance Maturity Program must also be entered into the corresponding class for the Sport Horse National Championship Show via an official entry form.

NOTE: A horse that is co-owned by two distinct non-family members cannot be shown in the Maturity and Jackpot Classes at any AHA National Championship Show.

Half-Arabians competing in this class must have DNA type of the horse and the horse’s purebred Arabian parent on permanent record with AHA and the horse must have been shown to qualify as an offspring of the stated purebred Arabian parent. The DNA parent verification must be on file with the AHA office in order for the horse to be eligible to compete in the class.

U.S. NATIONALS PERFORMANCE FUTURITY/MATURITY/DERBY ENROLLMENT 

Planning to show your horse in a Performance Futurity/Maturity/Derby Class? Be sure your horse is enrolled in the U.S. Nationals Performance Futurity/Maturity/Derby Program. Enrollment into the program is required in order to show in these classes.

If you choose the payment option, the second and third payments must be submitted on or before July 1, 2023, and August 1, 2023 (postmarked/electronic transaction dated to the AHA office). Payments that are postmarked/electronic transactions dated after the first of each month will be assessed late fees.

All Performance Futurity/Maturity/Derby horses must be enrolled in the program and the total fees paid. Nominations are allowed with an additional $750 late fee or an additional $1,000 late fee for Reining up until the Final Post Entry Close date for US Nationals. Nomination fees do not include the show entry fees, drug fees, stalls, etc.

All entries into the Performance Futurity/Maturity/Derby Program must also be entered into the corresponding class for the U.S. National Championship Show via an official show entry form. 

CLASS SPLIT FOR US NATIONAL PERFORMANCE FUTURITY/MATURITY PROGRAM

Due to the increasing participation of the Ranch Horse Riding Futurity at U.S. Nationals, the class has been split. Beginning in 2023, there will be two classes, Arabian Ranch Horse Riding Futurity, and HA/AA Ranch Horse Riding Futurity.

Note: Half-Arabians competing in the Maturity Classes must have parentage DNA verified to the purebred Arabian parent on file at the AHA office before they are allowed to compete.
