PFA is headed to New Orleans for its Fall 2024 conference, to be held November 12-14 at the Omni Royal Orleans. Make plans to arrive by Tuesday evening, because you don't want to miss the Welcome Reception sponsored by CertiPUR-US^®.

The Omni Royal Orleans is a classic hotel on the border of the French Quarter and the Business District, so it's close to fun but away from much of the noise. And you already know about New Orleans. Great food. Great music. A great place to host a meeting.

Featured Speaker: Existing And Emerging PFAS Regulations

Steve Kooy

Director of Health & Sustainability BIFMA

A rising number of state and federal PFAS regulations are affecting the furniture industry. BIFMA will provide an update on the impact of these regulations, ongoing industry advocacy efforts, and future expectations.



Speaker Bio: Steve Kooy has 15+ years of experience as a sustainability professional in the furniture industry. He currently leads BIFMA’s Health and Sustainability programs including the LEVEL sustainability certification program adopted by most commercial furniture manufacturers.

Steve also serves as board chair of mindful Materials, a 501c3 non-profit. mindful Materials convenes industry leaders to define sustainable materials, crowd source sustainability data, and drive change better sustainability decisions. 

He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s in Civil/Environmental Engineering.

Technical Program: Call For Papers

The Polyurethane Foam Association is accepting proposals for technical presentations for its Fall Technical Program, November 14, 2024 at the Omni Royal Orleans in New Orleans, LA.

Authors must submit an abstract with request for presentation. Presentations must not exceed 25 minutes in length. A slide presentation and recording will become part of PFA’s online information library. In addition, preseneters are welcome to submit a written paper.

The Paper Selection Process

To be eligible for presentation, papers must have a non-commercial focus and specifically address topics related to slabstock or molded flexible polyurethane foam production, raw material developments, environmental performance, occupational safety, product evaluation, novel commercial applications, or production control, and be based on actual production applications.

Deadline for submitting an abstract for proposed presentation is September 25, 2024.

Based on a program that includes at least 6 technical papers, the presentations will be scored to compete for a $500 Technical Excellence Award provided by the Herman Stone Family Endowment.
