Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is returning to Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa this fall. RYLA is a program designed to help students develop leadership skills through civic engagement and personal development. RYLA events take place all over the country, and your students have the opportunity to apply for this one-of-a-kind event created in partnership with Launch Leadership.
Launch Leadership, originally known as the Nebraska Association of Student Councils, has been working with students for more than 60 years. Launch's time-tested curriculum challenges students to better understand themselves, those around them, and the impact they can make as leaders through experiential learning and guided discussions. Launch activities are designed to make students think, not to tell them how to think, in a supportive environment that brings out students' full potential.
- Students must submit an application to attend with their local Rotary Club. Selected students will be awarded a scholarship to attend the event free of charge.
- The event will be facilitated by trained Launch Leadership Staff at Camp Sonshine just outside of Lincoln, Nebraska.
- The event will deliver targeted outcomes from Launch’s seven Skill Tracks, including communication, group dynamics, and self-management, along with growth in Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus, such as peacebuilding and community economic development.
- Applications will open near the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Help your students discover their potential to solve problems and create positive change in their communities.
