New Jersey Artists!

Call for artists! Sponsored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the 2024 Arts Annual is open to New Jersey artists working in any medium who wish to broadly explore the themes of family, community, and belonging in relation to diversity and inclusion. Hosted by Montclair Art Museum, the exhibition complements a concurrent show of historic, modern, and contemporary artworks from MAM’s collection: Family, Community, Belonging: Works From the Collection. 

Artists are encouraged to offer local to global perspectives on such questions as: How do we define who are our families in an increasingly polarized society? How do we understand different ways of experiencing and navigating the world around us? 

Applications are processed through Call for Entry. There is no entry fee to apply.

Call for artists! The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is now accepting submissions for a digital mural project to be installed at the PATH Exchange Place Station in Jersey City.

This project is open to artists/artist teams who are at least 18 years of age, legally able to complete a contract with the Port Authority of NY/NJ, and meet the eligibility criteria stated in the call for artists. Artists must be either a NJ resident or live within 150 miles of the border of New Jersey. Preference will be considered for artists with a strong connection to Jersey City.

Applications are processed through Call for Entry. There is no entry fee to apply.

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts will be hosting a free, virtual meet and greet for Teaching Artists on June 3, 2024 | 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Registered Teaching Artists will have the opportunity to meet with arts organizations looking to engage with and hire Teaching Artists.

HOW IT WORKS: Teaching Artists will be able to self-select breakout rooms managed by arts organizations across the state. Organizations will be assigned 15 minutes to present about their programming and allow for TAs to ask questions about their hiring requirements, available positions, and more. At the conclusion of the 15 minutes, TAs will have the opportunity to self-select another organization or stay in the current organization’s breakout room. Presentation materials for all participating organizations will be made available to registered attendees.

WHO WILL BE THERE: The State Arts Council welcomes over 15 arts organizations from across the state. To learn more about who will be in attendance, download the Speed Networking Brochure.

Registration is required to access the organizational materials, as well as attend the Speed Networking Event. Registration will close on Tuesday, May 28. No late registrations will be accepted. This event is intended for Teaching Artists and the registered arts organizations. The New Jersey State Council on the Arts is hosting quarterly Teaching Artist Community of Practice meetings. These virtual sessions serve as a platform for teaching artists to share their experiences, discuss new opportunities, and connect with each other and the State Arts Council. Through loosely moderated discussions, the sessions provide an opportunity to network with other New Jersey teaching artists, share challenges and successes of working in the state, and discuss what teaching artistry could look like as we move into the future.
