Your Progressive Troll News

Greetings fellow progressives,

As we approach the final weeks before the election, there is an undeniable sense of excitement and optimism in the air. We have every reason to feel cautiously hopeful about November 5. However, we must remain vigilant and relentless in our efforts. Polling indicates that the races are neck-and-neck, and victory hinges on our grassroots activism. Each progressive voter we mobilize brings us one step closer to securing Wisconsin's vital 10 electoral votes and flipping the Assembly.

Moreover, we face the critical task of safeguarding our voting rights against yet another Republican constitutional amendment that threatens to undermine our democracy. To address this pressing issue, we invite you to join us at an upcoming event featuring Nick Ramos, Executive Director of Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. See information in this newsletter.

Let us view this election as a pivotal moment for progressive transformation, reinforcing our commitment to collaboration and community involvement. And as we engage in this vital work, let’s also take a moment to celebrate the vibrant local culture around us, such as the delightful new song link to Stuart Stotts' The Harris'n Walz Waltz. Enjoy!

FORWARD TOGETHER!

PROGRESSIVE TROLLS HAVE A NEW WEBSITE!

There are many ways to help make a difference in the upcoming election. We now have a one stop information website thanks to Chad Minter and family. The Minters were instrumental in getting the site established. Thank You!

PROGRESSIVE TROLLS HAVE A HOME

GRAND OPENING SEPTEMBER 14, 10Am to 2PM

The Mount Horeb Progressive Trolls have some new digs. We now have a home office in Mount Horeb. This will be a place to launch canvassing, to store signage, distribute literature and welcome volunteers and visitors. The office is located at:

522 Springdale Street, Mt. Horeb, WI 53572

The Progressive Troll office is in the lower level of the Family Dental building, accessible from the parking lot in the back. Drive around to the back on the east side of the building to the lot. To the left of the arbor going to the dental office is the lower level entrance to our office. We’ll be watching for you! If the parking lot fills (unlikely on weekends) street parking is easiest south of Springdale Street.

FIGHTING FOR THOSE WHO FOLLOW

Elizabeth Grabe understand the upcoming election is about the future promise for those who follow us.

“The world is on fire, and we need to leave it in a better place. I cannot sit back and wait for others to play partisan games while our citizens have less funding for schools, deal every day with crumbling infrastructure, and are suffering from the effects of climate change.”

- Elizabeth Grabe, Candidate for WI 51st Assembly District

WHAT'S THE DEAL ON HARRIS/WALZ YARD SIGNS

When will we have yard signs and what is the hold up? Soon we hope! Due to a combination of the late change in the ticket, printing delays, and incredible demand, signs have been slower to get to us than usual. We are not sure what our allotment will be. We know folks are anxious, so we created our own signs by using old Biden-Harris signs.

Many thanks to Jim Bennett from rural Mazomanie who donated the materials. Jim exemplifies grassroots activism by dedicating countless hours to reusing and recycling signs, demonstrating that individual actions can create a significant impact.

We invite you to channel that same creativity and determination in your own neighborhoods to drive progressive turnout. You can pick up your Harris sign at the office this weekend, but please act quickly—our supply is limited! And while you’re there, consider joining a canvass to further amplify our collective voice. Together, we can inspire change and make a difference!

Free Forums on Gerrymandering and November Constitutional Amendment

Dodgeville, WI – The Iowa County Election Education Team (ICEET) and the SWWAP organization are proud to announce two free public forums featuring Nick Ramos, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, on Sunday, October 6th, 2024. These events will focus on the need for a permanent fix to gerrymandering and the critical threats posed by the Wisconsin constitutional amendment on the November ballot.

Nick Ramos, a lawyer and dedicated community advocate, will speak at two locations on Oct. 6:

Senior Community Center, 107 N Grove St, Mount Horeb, WI from 2:00-3:00 PM

Dodgeville High School Auditorium, 912 W Chapel St, Dodgeville, WI from 4:00-5:00 PM

During his presentation, Ramos will address the ongoing issue of gerrymandering in Wisconsin and across the United States, while also explaining why a permanent fix is essential for safeguarding democracy.
