The New Mexico Lawyer Assistance Program (NM LAP)

Did you know that as members of the legal community, you have access to invaluable resources provided by the State Bar of New Mexico? The Solutions Group, the Employee Assistance Program of the State Bar, offers an online resource called StressStop—an online suite of stress management and resilience-building tools. This resource is available to attorneys, judges, paralegals, law office staff, court personnel and their immediate family members at no cost!

Among the features of StressStop is the My Stress Profiler—a confidential and personalized stress assessment. This tool (similar to an app) offers continuous feedback and recommendations for enhancing your response to various stressors, including those related to change, financial concerns, stress symptoms, worry, fear, and time pressures.

Additionally, StressStop offers:

  • Podcasts and videos featuring renowned experts such as Dan Goleman, Ph.D., discussing Emotional Intelligence; Kristin Neff, Ph.D., addressing Self-Compassion; and David Katz, M.D., covering topics like Stress, Diet, and Emotional Eating.
  • Webinars covering diverse subjects such as achieving work-life balance, effective stress management strategies, and incorporating mindfulness into professional life.
  • Relaxation Exercises including soothing music and guided relaxation sessions.
  • Expert Q&A sessions providing insights into coping with change, managing insomnia and depression, stress reduction techniques, the health benefits of chocolate, and more.

To begin utilizing these resources, we encourage you to register for an account. StressStop is targeted to become an app in 2025. For further details, please click here.
