Arts & the Military Mini Grants Call for Proposals

The $2,500 Mini Grants program assists organizations creating and expanding arts programming for military connected participants via a streamlined granting process. Mini Grants can also be used to build organizational capacity towards the goal of creating and expanding opportunities for veterans and active-duty service members to engage with the arts.

This is an opportunity to test programming ideas, make sure your organization is eligible and get constructive feedback on your application BEFORE final submission.

Advance review of your application is required if: organization is a new applicant or did not receive funding for a prior application to the Mini Grant program.

New Mexico Arts’ Art in Public Places program announces

the 2024 Southwest Artists Series Purchase Initiative.

The call is open to artists who reside in, and galleries that are located in the Southwest: New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. Seeking existing artwork in the $5,000 - $50,000 price range, apply HERE

The Art in Public Places Program of New Mexico Arts and the Local Selection Committee (LSC) of the City of Gallup seek to commission 1-3 artists/artist teams to create and install site-specific artwork for three designated areas in the lobby of the new Public Safety building.


Artwork must create a warm/comforting and peaceful/serene atmosphere, while corresponding with the existing color palette within the space, for all visitors and staff. 


$115,150 total project budget.

NM Department of Cultural Affairs Offers Free Admission to Active-Duty Military

Through Blue Star Museums Program



Free admission to any of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs’ (NMDCA) eight museums and seven historic sites will be available this summer to active-duty military personnel and their families through the Blue Star Museums program. New Mexico has a sizable active-duty military and National Guard population of more than 43,000 people and NMDCA offers these individuals a chance to explore the history and culture of the state throughout the summer.

Other Opportunities

The Railyard Art Project (RAP) is accepting proposals for temporary public art installations and creative projects in Santa Fe’s Railyard Park + Plaza. Thanks to generous grants from Santa Fe’s Arts and Culture Commission and New Mexico Arts, RAP will be funding two projects between October 2024 and June 2025, with each project receiving a $2,500 honorarium, as well as marketing support and liability insurance.

Free Instruments for Children

Long time Young Audiences and Wolftrap Teaching Artist in search of good homes for a large collection (a couple hundred) instruments. These have been used for my teaching residencies and classroom work. The instruments need to go to a non-profit who will distribute them to at-risk children with no funds to purchase their own instruments. Some are instruments like drums, and string instruments. Others are small rhythm band types of instruments.
