The Children's Trust Announces
* New or updated

Ending the Silence for Providers Mental Health Training *

Ending the Silence for Staff is now available for providers of The Children's Trust through Trust Academy. It is a mental health intervention and education program, specifically for staff working with youth and families. The program is evidence-informed and focuses on increasing knowledge about mental health warning signs. The training takes place Jan. 25, from 10-11:30 a.m. Please register or log in to Trust Academy LMS to join by using the link below.

Innovation Fund Grants Coming in February *

An Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) will fund multiple entities, for up to $1,000,000, for innovative ideas and program designs that address existing community needs and have not previously been implemented in our community. The Trust is seeking to fund innovative projects that test new ideas that address existing community needs and have not been previously implemented in our community. Successful proposals will demonstrate invention, theoretical reason for success and courage to explore uncharted territory. The tentative release date is February 2024. Advocacy Network on Disabilities Courses

New! Getting to Know Me 6th-12th: The Getting to Know Me form for students in 6th -12th grade is a valuable tool to help you learn about your students. This course will help you gain knowledge of the use and value of the Getting to Know Me form by identifying and addressing any strengths and interests and addressing needs or challenges related to a student’s participation in your program. We will also review how to access the form through your Inclusion Specialist or our website.

Let’s Play Together: Practical Solution for Adapting Recreational Activities Table Games, Sports Activities, Arts and Crafts – come ready to play, and to learn some easy to implement adaptations so all children can participate. Find out about universal design and how it levels the playing field for all.

Thinking and Doing Basics (NEW!)

January 23, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Creating a balance of thinking and doing learning activities within your after-school schedule can increase both the enjoyment and the learning outcomes for the children in your program. Participants will learn to identify and create opportunities within any activity to provide children with a chance to think and do and will return to their site ready to implement new ideas and concepts.


Please register for these trainings on Trust Academy LMS. Once registered, you will receive an email with the Zoom link and additional handouts and information one business day before the training. Space is limited.

Project RISE recently launched two new courses for Youth Development providers and created a new resource to assist with the implementation of Differentiated Literacy Instruction.


Effective Literacy Instruction: Representation Matters

In this course, you will learn why creating inclusive literacy activities will improve the learning outcomes of the children in your program and how to incorporate representation to deepen the level of children’s engagement and understanding using the tools and strategies learned in the Introduction to Effective Literacy Instruction and Applying Effective Literacy Instruction Strategies courses.

Cutler Bay Community Fund Mini-Grants Available for Nonprofits *

The Town of Cutler Bay established the Community Fund to improve the quality of life of the town’s residents. The Community Fund supports only nonprofit organizations that help, assist, and serve the citizens and/or community of the Town of Cutler Bay. Grant awards: $500 - $2,500. Priority areas: education, environment, culture, social services, and other philanthropic activities. Grant cycle deadline is March 15.

Latinos in Finance Program

This program at the Overtown Youth Center offers training focused on financial literacy and enhancing skills and knowledge that would prepare you for a career in banking. The program is six weeks and sessions will be held two evenings each week throughout the program. Participants would be exposed to different type banking careers, how the bank operates with personal finance, the importance of customer service in the banking industry and other financial services provided by a bank. Change the Life of a Child in Foster Care; Serve on a Citizen Review Panel

Florida Foster Care Review, which advances the safety, stability and success of abused and neglected children, youth and young adults by connecting them to essential services, healthy relationships and forever families, seeks caring community members to volunteer 1 weekday a month for a minimum of 1 year to serve on its Citizen Review Panel (CRP); volunteers must be at least 25 years old. The CRP reviews active, judge-referred child welfare court cases. Reviews are currently conducted virtually.

Available Positions at The Children's Trust

Program Manager - $55,968.20 Annual

This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead. The attached exhibits include additional responsibilities for the Program Manager leading our Metrics and PPD efforts. Experience working with System-Involved Youth or implementing similar programming is strongly preferred. 


Business Controller - Starting $120,000 Annual

The Business Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of The Children's Trust. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of the work performed by the Accountants, Senior Accounting Analysts, Accounting Operations Manager and Fiscal Data Integrity Analyst of The Children’s Trust in accordance with The Children’s Trust (The Trust) procurement and accounting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP), regulations promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards. As directed by the Finance Director, the Business Controller will be engaged in key functions such as planning, managing, monitoring and evaluating the fiscal activities and functions of The Trust and its service providing organizations to ensure that daily and long term financial activities and controls are created and maintained to achieve organizational objective and safeguard assets.

Research & Evaluation Analyst (Early Childhood and/or Family Support Services) - $55,968 - $58,468 Annual

The Research & Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.

Assistant Site Director

The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 

 

The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Development Director

The Development Director will support the advancement functions of the organization, including building, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of donors for annual and multi-year gifts. The Director will focus on growing corporate giving. Responsibilities will include direct fundraising, fundraising activities coordination, stewardship and advancement-related administrative support in order to strengthen our work with donors and partners, thereby advancing mission, programs and impact.
