New Manos Alegria Superpool Kits!

Manos Alegria SuperPool Swatches

Manos Alegria is a Superwash Merino/Polyamide sock yarn from our dear friends at Manos del Uruguay. The Alegria Superpool Kits come with one 100 gram unique dyed skein that yields stripes and pools, as well as a 20 gram mini skein dyed in a coordinating color for heels and toes.

They're obviously designed for socks, but we think a hat, a cowl, or a shawl would be wonderful with this yarn!

The Racimo Cowl, shown here, is made with just one skein of Alegria! It's knit flat then seamed. You can edge it in the alternate color, or add color stripes throughout the piece. Let your creativity run! We think the pooling would be very interesting, understanding we haven't knit it. Life is an adventure, right?

Yarn Shop for Sale!

Kris and Oz Tree

The time has come for the next chapter in our lives. We’re looking for the next owner of the Ball & Skein. Yes, the shop is for sale.

Don't expect huge changes right away. And yes, new yarn is still coming in. We're still here and committed to providing the same quality of service as always.

In 2009 we took a big chance and moved from our beloved neighborhood just outside Boston to run a yarn shop in a small town on the coast of California. It’s been an amazing experience, full of memories we will treasure for the rest of our lives.

We’re grateful for each and every one of you that have supported the shop for all these years and we hope the legacy of the Ball & Skein continues for many years to come. It’s been a great pleasure to be a part of one of the oldest, and we feel, most loved shops in the country.

We've been amazed at the interest we've received already! But remember, even if someone said "Yes" today we expect this process will take some time, so fear not, we're still here to serve you!

If you, or someone you know, is interested in being a larger part of this history, please contact us at

Thank you one and all.
