New Jersey Israel Commission Welcomes Josh Berliner, New Executive Director


In January 2024, Governor Murphy named Josh Berliner as the new Executive Director of the New Jersey-Israel Commission. Prior to this role, Josh served for many years at the Israel Economic Mission in NYC. He lives in Teaneck with his 3 children.

Commission members represented NJIC at the 2024 Foodtech Summit hosted by Rutgers Food Innovation Center, Middlesex County, and NJEDA. Preparations are in proces for another event in September.

Governor Phil Murphy Meets with Ofir Akunis, new Consul General of Israel NY



Governor Murphy tweeted he had a great introductory meeting with Ofir Akunis, the new Consul General of Israel in NY. They are continuing to receive updates on the region and remain hopeful for the safe return of all hostages, and a lasting, peaceful resolution.

On June 5, New Jersey Israel Commission held our Spring 2024 meeting, hosted at Chabad of Rutgers by commission members Rabbi Yosef Carlebach and Rabbi Mendy Carlebach. We celebrated our 35th anniversary, and discussed ways to support the community in the face of antisemitism.

Kibbutz Beer'I in Trenton


Governor and Mrs. Murphy hosted an Israeli delegation of October 7 survivors and activists who are working to rebuild Kibbutz Beeri, and honor the lives that were lost.

On June 2-3, NJIC sponsored the Jerusalem Post Summit in NYC. Several commission members attended the event to proudly represent our state and highlight NJ’s close ties with Startup Nation.

New Jersey-Israel Commission celebrates Israel at the 76th Israel Day Parade


NJIC continued our annual tradition of marching in the Celebrate Israel Parade in NYC.  25 Commission members, friends, family, and NJSP joined our float, including former Governor Jon Corzine.

BioNJ


NJIC sponsored BioNJ’s BioPartnering Conference on May 14 at the Liberty Science Center. A delegation of Israeli startups, both locally and remotely, joined the annual gathering, and networked with our State’s pharma, health, and biotech industries. 

BIRD Foundation Awards A Cyber Project in South Jersey


In an agreement that was supported by NJIC, South Jersey Transportation Authority (Hammonton, NJ) and Pentera (Petach Tikva, Israel) will jointly develop technology that will help secure small and medium airports and seaports.

Choose NJ International Week


 Choose NJ hosted an “International Week” that culminated in a luncheon in New Brunswick that brought together consultants, partners, and corporations that drive global business in NJ. NJIC attended a panel in which Enzene, CGI, Campbells Soup and Daekyo talked about the way that foreign business is partnering with NJ’s economy.  

Smart Cities


8 Israeli Startups with solutions for Smart City and Nextgen Transportation visited NJ for site visits and meetings. In the morning, they were hosted by the innovation team at NJDoT headquarters. In the afternoon, the team joined a conference in Princeton to present to locally-based transportation infrastructure professionals and academics.  

Kaplen Business Seminar in Tenafly


NJIC teamed up with NJEDA, NJBAC, and Choose NJ to host a seminar aimed at helping relocated Israelis, families, and immigrants to our state establish businesses in New Jersey.

Liberty Drones


NJIC teamed up with IAC to sponsor a high-profile event in Liberty State Park calling for the release of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza. Hundreds of people were in attendance The highlight of the activity was a drone show. The activity received extensive news coverage.

Symphony of Brotherhood Concert in Honor of MLK Day


This annual event took place in Jersey City, where our culture and community engagement committee led an activity that used music to strengthen the ties between New Jersey's Jewish, Israeli, and Black communities.

New Jersey-Israel Commission hosts ADL for meeting to discuss future collaborations


NJIC and ADL met in Trenton to discuss current events and collaboration opportunities in combatting hate of all forms in our communities. We are very thankful for ADL's critical work with Legislators and Law Enforcement to keep our neighbors safe from racism, antisemitism, and discrimination.
