March 2021 News
New Supportive Services Partnership
Hands On Hartford's Housing Services team provides intensive support to folks living with complex health challenges so that they can stay safely and stably housed. In addition to developing connections and community, tenants and program participants benefit from professional case management that enables them to manage the health challenges that have held them back from realizing their life goals. Working with the West Hartford Housing Authority, we will now be providing these supportive services to 14 individuals and families living in a beautifully renovated apartment building on New Britain Avenue. To provide the best service possible, we'll maintain an office onsite and we look forward to helping foster a new caring community where tenants can enjoy a great location, all the assistance they need to be successful, and affordable rent. We're always happy to share more about our supportive housing work - just contact Abbie Kelly at
Save the Date!

Our annual fall fundraiser, Hands and Hearts Together - Bring Hope Home, will take place on Sunday, September 26th at 5:30 pm. This event will be virtual again this year, so be sure to save the date and join us as we celebrate this year's theme of bringing hope home for our neighbors.

Faith In Action
The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford and the Emanuel Synagogue Sisterhood sponsored a virtual Faces of Homelessness speaking event in February with a deeply thoughtful group of 18 audience members in attendance. Coincidentally, it was Faces of Homelessness Speaker Ralph Gagliardo's birthday that day so in addition to sharing his experiences and perspective, he received lots of happy birthday wishes. For those interested in scheduling one of these powerful speaking events, contact Geoff Luxenberg at

Speaking of Faces of Homelessness, our friends at Church of the Good Shepherd in Hartford (one of our founding congregations) also recently hosted a virtual speaking event and gave very positive feedback. They are also supporting our Neighborhood Services team with funds for homelessness prevention work - help with utility and rental assistance, to give families a hand up when they most need it. We are so grateful for their partnership in this important work.
Care Baskets for Zezzo House Tenants
Our partners on the Board of Zezzo House, one location where Hands On Hartford provides supportive housing services, gave each of the tenants much-appreciated care packages. Here, HOH Team member, Gilberto Gonzalez, shows off these generous packages with Zezzo Board members Jo and Danielle.
Honoring Women's History Month
HOH celebrated Women's History Month by honoring these incredible women on our bulletin board throughout March. We highlighted some of the many role models, advocates, and strong women who have inspired us.
