Thank you Student Council!
A big thanks to our 2022-2023 Student Council! This crew has focussed on infusing the student voice into our spaces this year, speaking into what furniture, tools and ambience would make our meeting rooms and session rooms more functional and appealing to use for students, and helping administration to order these items and put the rooms together.

Student Council also conducted school wide student surveys to amplify the student voice for ordering genres and titles for our library. In addition, they coordinated with the Whole School Activity committee to hold an Hour of Art to have more student art creations displayed around the school.

The “Voice Box” was created to have a space for students to bring suggestions and comments to the Student Council for discussion at their meetings.

Thank you 2022-2023 Student Council!

Changes in the Administration Office
Our Assistant Principal, Kate Newfield, will be heading out on maternity leave for the 2023-2024 school year. We are going to miss her, but are excited for her to grow her family. Congrats Kate!
Carmen Forth will be covering the assistant principal position during Kate’s leave, joining principal Katie Blasetti on the New Heights school administration team.

Carmen is a familiar face for many of our staff, students and families. She has been a Teacher and a Learning Leader with New Heights for many years.
New Heights Education Plan
The New Heights Board of Directors has approved the New Heights Education Plan for Alberta Education.

The Plan spans the next 3 years, and has been published as of May 31st, 2023.

It is available on our website here.
Thank You to the New Heights PAC!
With summer coming just around the corner, New Heights is in the business of celebrating another wonderful school year.

This includes acknowledging and celebrating our incredible 2022-2023 Parent Advisory Council.

This PAC team has been a huge support to the school this year. They have stayed as they have worked to bring back in person gatherings and events to build our school community, supported school initiatives and field trips through fundraising, spread the New Heights School story to the greater community, and been an all-around amazing encouragement throughout the year to the staff and students in the school.

A HUGE thank you to the wonderful 2022-2023 PAC team!
Way to Go!
Each month at New Heights there is a Way to Go! draw. To be entered, students have to be “caught” going above and beyond for others.

Some examples of this might be: helping out another student to solve a problem, holding the door for others on the way outside, or letting someone else have a turn on a favorite game.

Teachers fill out a ticket for the students to drop off in the jar in the office, and each month, Mrs Newfield pulls a ticket from the jar, most likely during the assembly. At the end of the year, all the tickets are put back in the jar for a final mega-draw at the end of June.

The winner of the Way to Go! draw in June for Elementary/Middle School was Nolan S from Copper Mountain!
The winner of the Way to Go! draw in June for Jr/High School was Papyrus from Tower Mountain!

The winner of the End of Year Mega-Draw for Elementary/Middle School was Griffin A from Skoki Mountain!
The winner of the End of Year Mega-Draw for Jr/High School was Bryce V from Tower Mountain!
