Dear Scholars Academy Families,

After a comprehensive search process, the Board of Directors is confident that we have found the right leader to guide Scholars Academy to new heights of success. The Board is thrilled to announce the appointment of Chad Carper as our new Executive Director, effective July 1st.

Our rigorous selection process included valuable input from teachers, staff, and parents. We conducted a series of in-depth interviews with several highly qualified candidates. After careful consideration of all factors, the Board has chosen a candidate who we believe will bring exceptional leadership and vision to our community and is committed to supporting the distinctive intellectual, social, and emotional needs of our Scholars.

Mr. Carper has over 30 years of experience at all three levels of K-12 education—elementary, middle and high school—providing servant leadership as a teacher, coach, principal and district administrator. Mr. Carper has moved schools to success by creating a positive school culture for learning and growth. Currently Mr. Carper serves as an Executive Coach with BetterLesson and is the Director of Student Services for York School District One in York, South Carolina. As a Director of Student Services Mr. Carper has led the implementation of programs supporting SEL instruction and Mental Health for students and school staff in York, South Carolina. While serving as a school principal in Gaston County Schools Mr. Carper was voted “Best of Gaston Principal of the Year” five times. Mr. Carper received his BA in History from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and his Masters in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. Mr. Carper has four sons Taylor, Joshua, Noah and Matthew and is married to his high school sweetheart, Jenny. Mr. Carper is an avid Charlotte FC soccer fan and loves to fish, read, and travel.

Although Mr. Carper’s official start date is in July, you may spot him on campus beforehand, eager to acquaint himself with our community. Throughout the upcoming school year, there will be ample opportunities for our community to engage with him and get to know him.

We would be remiss not to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Pieper for her unwavering dedication throughout the search for our new Executive Director. Her profound care for our school and commitment to finding the right leader to succeed her has been invaluable. As she continues to demonstrate her dedication to Scholars Academy, Ms. Pieper will be pivotal in guiding the transition over the summer. Under her leadership, Scholars Academy has thrived, laying a solid foundation upon which Mr. Carper can build confidently and we thank Ms. Pieper immensely.

Scholars Academy has a proud tradition of academic excellence, inclusivity and innovation, and we believe that Mr. Carper’s leadership will further elevate our standards and achievements. The Board looks forward to working with Mr. Carper to achieve our shared goals. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Carper to Scholars Academy.

Sincerely,
