The Spanish version of Mechanical Insulation Basics (the most popular course on NIA's Education Center) has launched! Five self-paced, on-demand, e-learning modules explain the types of insulation on the market, the science and technology of how insulation works, design questions that should be asked for every project, and basic insulation information to help beginners become knowledgeable about the industry.

Show Your Commitment to Safety and Apply to Become a Safety Star


Applications are now available for NIA's Safety Excellence Awards and will be accepted through Nov. 15, 2024.


Applications and instructions were emailed to the primary representative for each member company and are also available online. Winners will be announced at NIA's Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, April 28–30, 2025. Each applicant receives a customized Safety Training Analysis Results (STAR) Report.

Get the recognition you and your company deserve by submitting your best project photos to NIA's Insulation Project Art Gallery Showcase and Competition by Sept. 27. As a benefit of membership, there is no entrance fee. (Please contact membership@insulation.org to confirm your membership status.)


Winners will be selected by your peers and announced at Fall Summit 2024. The competition for NIA Contractor members highlights the craftsmanship, creativity, and artistry of mechanical and industrial insulation system projects. Even if your company placed or entered last year, you are eligible to submit a new project in this year's competition.

NIA Certified Faced Insulation Standard (Version 404.2–2024) Revised by Metal Building Laminator Committee


Recently, the Metal Building Laminator Committee and the NIA Board of Directors approved the revision of the NIA Certified Faced Insulation Standard (Version 404.2 2024). The revision is a change to the frequency of testing of product samples. The new language is listed below and the full standard can be found on NIA's website.


11.0 Product Certification

11.1 Thermal Certification—Samples of this product are tested and/or verified periodically, at least once per year by a nationally recognized independent, third-party laboratory and determined to meet the stated dimensions and thermal resistance in accordance with this Certified Faced Insulation Standard. The laminator shall represent that the product being presented for testing has been produced to the standard.


11.2 Surface Burning Characteristics Certification—Samples of this product, selected randomly, are to be tested and/or verified periodically, at least once per year by a nationally recognized independent, third-party laboratory and determined if they meet the stated flame-spread-and smoke-developed index values in accordance with this Certified Faced Insulation Standard.
