New Dentist Night Out rooftop is Aug. 15


The downtown Loews Hotel rooftop is once again the place to be for the annual CDS New Dentist Night Out!


Join us Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6:30 - 9 p.m., at Loews Hotel Streeterville, 455 N. Park Dr., in downtown Chicago.


Wonderful summer weather and a stunning sunset are the backdrop for this fun evening on one of Chicago's best rooftops. Catch up with your friends, enjoy an open bar, light appetizers, a virtual Swag Bag from our great sponsors and a chance to win some other fun prizes, all for free for Early Career Dentists (in practice 10 years or less).  


This annual gathering always delivers -- bring your friends, former classmates and colleagues!

Recent graduates celebrate with CDS


Dental school graduates from 2022, 2023 an 2024 had a great time at the Kaiser Tiger beer garden earlier this month. Grads celebrated their achievement, met some new colleagues and learned more about CDS and its branch meetings.

D&I Committee is moving ahead

CDS has put the finishing touches on its newest standing committee, the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.


An email invitation will go out very soon asking individuals interested in serving on the committee. Prospective members provide their information as well as complete a short explanation of their desire to serve on the committee.


There will be nine members of the committee, with seven selected through the open call for volunteers.



Dr. Lori Lightfoot, Director of the Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch, is the board liaison for the committee, which is expected to hold its first meeting in early 2025

What to know about student loan forgiveness this summer

Student loan forgiveness has been a moving target for the last year, with hiccups to several forgiveness program rollouts and repeated legal challenges. Unfortunately, the news is more of the same.


While a new repayment plan with a faster timetable for loan cancellation and lower monthly payments for many was set to go into effect July 1, judges' rulings in Kansas and Missouri on June 24 blocked the plan from moving forward.
