I’m pleased to ask you to join me in welcoming our new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Cedric Gaddy, to the Life U community.
As many of you may recall, we began the CFO search so that we could find the right fit well before our longtime and current CFO, Mr. Bill Jarr, transitions to an advisory role at the end of the year. I am particularly pleased that our search yielded a successful candidate in time to give Mr. Gaddy and Bill ample time to work together to create a smooth transition.
Mr. Gaddy was the successful candidate because he has a skill set that is well suited to Life U, providing a strong blend of financial acumen, operations experience and community involvement. As associate vice president for the Facilities and Operations division of Columbia University, Mr. Gaddy planned and managed a long-term budget in excess of $2B. His responsibilities included oversight of capital projects, procurement, accounts payable, engineering audits and code compliance.
In addition, Mr. Gaddy has experience in public works, having served as the inaugural CFO of the Brooklyn Bridge Park and in government as he worked for various NYC Mayoral agencies, including the Office of Management and Budget, NYC Civilian Complaint Review Board, Department of Homeless Services, and the Department of Small Business Services.
By way of education, Mr. Gaddy holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from American International College and a Master of Business Administration from Baruch College. He also completed a certificate program from New York University in Not-for-Profit Accounting and Governmental Reporting.
Mr. Gaddy has also served on several non-profit boards, a commitment that speaks to a value set that resonates with ours here at Life U.
I know that, in the coming days and months, you will give Mr. Gaddey a warm welcome as he gets settled here at Life U and here in Georgia with his wife, two children and two dogs.
