ARS of Eastern USA Establishes its 33rd Chapter in Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT—The Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Eastern USA is proud to announce the establishment of the ARS "Noor" Chapter of Vermont. The newly established chapter becomes the 33rd chapter under the leadership of the ARS of Eastern USA, with a total of 14 states with active chapter(s) and the nation's capital, Washington D.C.

On November 12, 2022, founding members Naira Hagopian, Inessa Manuelyan, Violetta Sagatela, Caroline Teague, and Talin Teague were sworn in by ARS Regional Executive Board member Seda Aghamianz. Then, Pearl Bargamian Teague, a long-time ARS member from Lowell's "Lousintak" chapter who recently settled in Vermont and was instrumental in the establishment of the chapter, pinned each new member with the ARS logo, officially welcoming them into the organization.

"We are excited to join the ARS Family and contribute to the ongoing humanitarian initiatives of the organization," said the newly elected chairperson of the chapter, Violetta Ayrapetova. "Even though we are in a state with a small Armenian community, we are determined to have a great impact on the programs and projects carried out by the ARS" she continued.

During their meeting, the members also decided to name the chapter Noor (or pomegranate), as it is one of the most recognizable symbols in the Armenian culture and signifies abundance, good fortune, and is meant to be a guardian against the evil eye.

In her congratulatory remarks, Regional Executive Board member, Seda Aghamianz said, "We are excited that a new community will have an ARS chapter in its area to give an opportunity for its members to diligently work to serve the humanitarian mission of the organization on a local, regional, and global level, and connect with their Armenian roots and heritage."

The new chapter is already planning its first major event celebrating Armenian Christmas on January 7th, 2023 and is planning on donating the funds from the event to the ARS program that will provide much-needed solar panels to the residents of Artsakh.
