Construction Update

The 69Express construction team continues to make good progress. The new Blue Valley Parkway flyover ramp to southbound U.S. 69 is open! Additionally, 139th and 143rd Streets have reopened! We thank you for your patience during this important work.

Another significant traffic switch has taken place along U.S. 69, between 151st Street and 119th Street. This traffic pattern change opens more construction areas for the contractor to continue work on new northbound U.S. 69. As part of this traffic switch, the northbound U.S. 69 ramp to Blue Valley Parkway is in a new configuration. Please be aware as you travel through this area for the changes.

U.S. 69 and 119th Street Updates

If you haven’t noticed yet, the 119th Street interchange is very busy with construction activity. On June 26th, the southbound U.S. 69 exit ramp to 119th Street and the 119th Street entrance ramp to northbound U.S. 69 will be closing for approximately 120 days. This closure is the first step in a series of actions to complete the reconstruction of the 119th Street Interchange. The construction will utilize a full closure of 119th Street to accelerate the reconstruction and provide the safest scenario for workers and drivers. 119th Street is planned to close in August for 60 days.

Detours will be marked, and digital signs will notify drivers prior to the closure. Please visit our website page for 119th Street to see specific dates for the ramps and road closure as the work moves closer.

We understand that long-term closures can significantly impact residents and business owners. If you have questions or concerns about the closures at 119th Street, please email info@69express.org for additional information.

Overland Park Road Work

Improvements are happening throughout Overland Park beyond the 69Express Project. Unfortunately, construction progress can mean traffic impacts. While we work closely with our partners at the City of Overland Park to ensure we coordinate lane and road closure work, your commute may include construction at multiple sites. Please visit: Road Closure Map - City of Overland Park, Kansas (opkansas.org) to stay aware of other road work taking place in Overland Park.
