This Saturday, July 13, Contra Costa County will host a grand opening of our new El Portal Place at 2555 El Portal Dr. in San Pablo from 10 am to Noon with a program at 10:30 am.
We transformed a vacant office building near Contra Costa College into 54 micro-unit apartments to serve as permanent housing with onsite supportive services for homeless adults with disabilities. Each apartment has a bathroom, kitchenette and workspace and there will be a community room, courtyard, garden, and dog park.
This $21 million project was funded by our Measure X County Sales Tax and the State’s Homekey Program with Federal funds for services.
I am proud that the innovative El Portal Place connects people in desperate need with quality housing and services to improve their health.
We appreciate the strong partnership with Overaa Construction and the City of San Pablo, and the continued support from Governor Gavin Newsom.
These homes help us achieve equity and improved health for county residents.
People who need assistance with housing in Contra Costa County can call 211 to reach to reach the Health Department’s CORE homeless outreach team.
