Highlights from the CRE Summit
A big thanks to everyone who supported the CRE Summit and Showcase. This year the summit returned with a bang at the outside courtyard in Union Bank Plaza. Our property owners, managers, and industry experts gathered with energetic exhibitors who came out in BOMA/GLA fashion and made this event a great success. Take a look at our highlight reel.
Regional Roundtables are opportunities to connect with peers in your region and discuss local issues affecting your business and building. The Advocacy Staff supplies regular local policy and political updates to keep you informed on potential issues that will affect your building.
These events may occur in person or remotely, depending on the region's preference. The event is open to all staff of a member building, annual partners, and sponsors. The goal is for attendees to grow their local network and to have a space for sharing ideas. The roundtables provide diverse local perspectives that may give you a new idea to improve your building operations.

ROY "ROCKY" PERRIN
"My passion is real estate investing, traveling, and wine. I love connecting with people and listening to their stories about why they are who they are today. I have been in the restoration business with Western Specialty Contractors for 7 years now straight out of college (Cal Poly SLO). Random fact about myself: I have a license to handle explosives from the Department of Defense."

Ban on New Warehouse Development Defeated!
As a result of our aggressive advocacy work, AB 2840, a bill that would have banned building most new warehouses across the Inland Empire, was defeated. The Inland Empire is a key artery for logistics in Greater Los Angeles and this bill would have made the cost of doing business skyrocket for our members, in addition to killing the warehouse industry.

LA County Eviction Moratorium Ends
After two years of advocacy, LA County removed its eviction moratorium. This ensures that your tenants must pay their upcoming rent on time and begin their payback period for unpaid rent during the moratorium. Throughout the pandemic, BOMA/GLA advocated ensuring that missed rent during the moratorium would still be owed to landlords and that government officials take “rent cancellation” off the table. This was a major step in our post-COVID advocacy efforts and in restarting our economy.

Campaign to Defeat Transfer Tax Ramps Up
BOMA/GLA members in the City of LA could face an enormous transfer tax increase if voters approve the “United to House LA” this November. The proposal would increase your transfer tax rate from 0.45% to 5.5% for most BOMA/GLA members in LA when they sell their properties. That’s a twelvefold increase. This measure would increase everyone’s cost of living and undermine LA’s entire real estate market - all while funneling more money to the same homelessness policies that have failed us for years.
In response, BOMA/GLA has co-founded Angelenos for Affordability: A coalition of community members and businesses to defeat this dangerous initiative.

David Gonzalez with McCloskey Mechanical Contractors Speaks on His Experience with BOMA
"When I began my search, I was looking for an association that would provide an opportunity to meet and associate with professionals of the Commercial Real Estate market. Little did I know of how in-depth my association with BOMA/GLA would take me on that journey! When I joined, I immediately utilized my associate member credits to sponsor the first mixer event since the on-set of Covid-19. Then, I dove into the BOMA CRE Summit Committee and subsequently on the ChrisMix Committee. As a result, I have met and worked with some great members. These truly are the people that are aligned and committed to help BOMA/GLA and me succeed. As a new member, you have my deepest thanks."
