Congratulations to the Chatham Community Fire Protection District for being chosen the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce’s Member of the Month for July!
The Chatham Community Fire Protection District was formed in 1928 and has continuously provided fire protection services to the Village of Chatham and the surrounding communities since its inception.
Better known as the Chatham Fire Department, the Chatham Community Fire Protection District covers approximately 75 square miles, encompassing the Village of Chatham and the surrounding area. They provide fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to over 21,000 residents within the District. The department operates with both paid and volunteer members, and is based at their station located on Illinois Route 4 in the Village of Chatham.
Additionally, they operate their own ambulance service. The department runs three ambulances, two of which provide advanced levels of care.
The District is governed by a three member Board of Trustees appointed by the Sangamon County Board. Their operational staffing includes three full-time Chief Officers, 22 volunteer positions, and 15 full-time firefighter positions. Their support staff includes a three member Board of Fire Commissioners, an Office Manager and Administrative Assistant, a Chaplain, and a Department Photographer.
About the Chatham Fire Department, Chief Gary Self says, “For almost 100 years the men and women of the Chatham Fire Department have provided first class emergency protection to the residents of the district. That care is provided with unmatched dedication, determination, and training. No matter the situation, the members of the Chatham Fire Department will always be here for our customers.”
The Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to name the Chatham Community Fire Protection District as its Member of the Month for July!

Titan Fuel Supports Families in Need through the Meijer Simply Give Program | |
|
Titan Fuel is proud to announce a partnership with Meijer to provide much-needed relief to local families facing food insecurity through Meijer's Simply Give program. The program encourages customers to add a $10 Simply Give donation card to their cart, which is then converted into a Meijer food-only gift card and given to a local food pantry in the store’s community.
Titan Fuel will benefit from donation cards at the Springfield Meijer store now through Sept. 28. In addition, Meijer will double match all customer cards on August 17 and September 14, effectively tripling contributions made on both days.
