Need a new roof?
Call the company that replaced my roof!
After getting burned by 3 other roofers,
Quick Roofing saved the day!
When I discovered that I had hail damage from the April 2016 hail storm, I interviewed a bunch of roofers.
One company, which did not specialize in roofing, knocked on my door, and said that they could see hail damage on my roof.
With my permission, they went up on my roof, took pictures of the damage and then showed me the snapshots on their iPhone. Frankly, I was surprised. While I knew we had some hail in the area 9 months previously, I didn't think it had hurt my roof.
If I was able to verify their work with other San Antonio-area customers, I was ready to hire them. I asked if they could provide names and numbers of any satisfied customers in the area with whom I could dialogue. They assured me that they could.
However, after I texted the guy 6 days in a row, I never heard back from him. Oddly enough, they didn't even return my phone calls.
Before I finally found Quick Roofing, I had a bad experience with a fly-by-night roofer who had knocked on my door.
Then I called a well known San Antonio roofer which specialized exclusively in roofing. The sales guy who came to my house and inspected my roof was professional and courteous. He verified that my roof had indeed sustained hail damage.
Once again, I was ready to do business. He told me the office would get me the customer testimonial information. They ultimately sent me the addresses of four happy customers. I explained by email that I needed their names and numbers. They told me to drive by their homes and look at their roofs.
I explained that I wanted to talk to the customers. They said they couldn't do that. I explained that I understood that not everyone would be willing to have folks call them, but surely a handful might. Then the lady told me that the call was being recorded and I was harassing them! So, after insulting me, they lost my business.
Before I found and hired Quick Roofing, I was insulted by a customer service rep of a second San Antonio roofing company.
Then I saw billboards around town for another roofer with $1,500 of free upgrades. That got my attention. I called the number and met with the local manager.
Unlike the previous two roofers, he noticed that, in addition to the hail damage, that a mischievous animal -- perhaps a racoon -- had dug a hole in my roof.
He offered to tarp it for me before the next rain came that afternoon and damaged things further. I thought that was both kind and pro-active of him.
However, he never mentioned there would be a charge for the tarping.
When I decided not to go with him because I felt a better connection with
and got a better price
from Quick Roofing's manager, he then told me that the tarping would cost $300. I was surprised because he had never said there was a fee associated with the tarping.
Before I finally found and hired Quick Roofing, I fell victim to a third roofing company's bait and switch.
While I understand that he was trying to get my business through a goodwill gesture, I felt as though he had a change of tune once I chose another roofer. Then when I explained that I would submit his invoice to my insurance agent, he increased the amount to $325.
Quick Roofing won my business because:
1.
After asking on Facebook for my friends' recommendations for a roofer out of my frustrating experiences in finding a reputable one, m
y friend David Birdy of Birdy Properties recommended Quick Roofing. He said they used them for all of their roofing repairs and replacements. That was sufficient for me. So therefore I no longer needed to talk to several satisfied customers since I found one whom I trusted.
2. Julio Gonzalez of Quick Roofing, was very professional, personable and courteous. (He's pictured below in the black shirt.)

3. Julio pulled up in a company vehicle and had brochures which demonstrated that Quick Roofing specialized in roofing.
Not only have they been around for 34 years, but Quick Roofing has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
4. I liked the fact that
Quick Roofing
is big enough that they got discounts on materials which would save me money.
Last year alone, this statewide company replaced 14,000 roofs in Texas.
5. I was pleased to learn that
Quick Roofing
would do some extra things like adding a drip edge to bring my roof up to code painting the metal stacks on my roof to match the new shingle color without an additional charge.
You can see the black metal drip edge in the left picture which ensures that when it rains, the water doesn't seep back toward the facia, but instead drips to the ground.
6. I was impressed by the fact that
Quick Roofing
could get my roof finished within 7-10 days. Two of the other roofers told me it would be anywhere from 2 to 4 months! I didn't want this thing, pardon the pun, "hanging over my head" for that long.
7. Since Julio was a former insurance adjuster himself, I knew that we was more than prepared to go toe-to-toe with my insurance company if necessary to ensure that they covered the damage that needed to be replaced.
8. Julio Gonzalez was very patient with me as I asked a LOT of questions. Imagine that. The talk show host had a lot of questions. :)
My Quick Roofing Crew
was fantastic!
I loved the fact that the crew was comprised of René (far left), his two brothers Joel and David, and his nephew Mark (far right). They were phenomenal!

René, third from the left, his two brothers Joel and David on the left, and his nephew Mark, on the far right, make up the Quick Roofing team that replaced my roof.
Not surprisingly, they had great team spirit. Hard working, polite, professional. They cleaned up after themselves and took the time to answer my questions along the way. They were fast, yet thorough.
The Quick Roofing crew moved quickly and thoroughly.
Unlike many of the roofers who had replaced roofs for my neighbors, the Quick Roofing crew did not scrape the old shingles and the underlayment directly off the roof, allowing it to drop below and possibly crush bushes and flowers around the perimeter of my house.
Watch the video below of how they did this on my roof.
(All three of my kids make a guest appearance at the video's end -- including little Valor who says "bye bye" to the old shingles being thrown into the trailer.)
Take a look at how Quick Roofing roofers carefully stacked my old shingles
and then threw them off the roof into a trailer parked in my driveway below.
Instead, after my crew removed the old shingles and underlayment, they carefully piled the old shingles up on the peak of the roof before they threw stacks of the old shingles into the trailer below which was parked in my driveway close to the garage door. Now that's smart.
The crew also tarped all of my bushes to catch any bits of shingles, bits of old underlayment, and old shingle staples.
The Quick Roofing crew worked quickly and thoroughly.
Plus, after they were finished with the entire job, they walked the perimeter with giant magnets which picked up any random old shingle staples.
They discovered a rotten piece of decking -- the wood underneath the shingles -- which they replaced with sturdy new decking. I was grateful to know that Quick Roofing not only replaced that, but also cut a new piece of decking where Mr. Racoon had been burrowing to try to get inside my attic.
Frankly, the Quick Roofing crew that replaced my roof look like they would be comfortable walking the tightrope in the circus.
As you can see below, the black shingles looks fantastic against my red brick. I've already gotten compliments from the neighbor across the street and from another roofer salesman from a different company.

In addition, Julio gave me the counsel of using some old prescription bottles and stuffing a little piece of an old t-shirt or kitchen towel inside after soaking it with coyote urine from Lowe's. He told me to drill a hole through the top of the bottles and throw them throughout the attic to act as a scent diffuser to scare the critters away from burrowing into my roof around the first cold snap in the fall when they're trying to get warm.
Quick Roofing sets the gold standard
Bottom line: I wish that every company in San Antonio was as much of a pleasure to work with as Quick Roofing. They set the gold standard, not only for other roofers, but for
every
other Alamo City business in
every
category!
