Food Pantry Distributes Nearly 20,000 Pounds of Food
Our food pantry has experienced significant growth, both in the number of clients we serve and the volume of food distributed. To keep up with the increasing demand, our team continues to work diligently to ensure our community is served efficiently and with dignity.
Last Friday, we served 1,023 clients with 19,525 pounds of nutritious food and kitchen staples! This was made possible with the help of over 20 volunteers from Hanon Systems and our generous CALC Feeds Member. Together, we have made a direct, tangible, and immediate impact on our neighbors in need.
Congratulations to Caitlin Poota for having the closest guess in our Guess the Pounds contest last week! Caitlin guessed 20,141 pounds. Just 616 pounds off!
There's only ONE CALC Feeds Membership left! If you'd like to sponsor a week of our food pantry program, click here to become a CALC Feeds Member today!

Maternal Health Education Program Teaches Safety for Babies
During our Maternal Health Education Program (MHEP) session, the mothers in our program learned about safe breastfeeding practices and car seat safety.
Our instructor taught mothers about how breastfeeding provides essential nutrition, to infants such as proteins, sugar, vitamins, and minerals, and the group also engaged in a discussion around breastfeeding alternatives. The session included information on how to transition their infant's and toddler's car seats to ensure the utmost safety of their children.
MHEP is made possible with grant funding from the Southeast Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Coalition (SEMPQIC), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, United Way for Southeast Michigan, and Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan.
MHEP wouldn't be possible without our CALC Moms Members, who provide a car seat, stroller, or crib for each mother in the program as well as diapers, wipes, formula, and other baby essentials. If you'd like to give hope to a mother and child in need, please click here to become a CALC Moms Member today!

Project Play On! Visits Aqua-Tots
Project Play On! participants made a splash at Aqua-Tots on the final day of our summer youth sports program. Over 30 children enjoyed a fun-filled day, learning new skills and staying active as they dove into a variety of aquatic activities.
Throughout the summer, Project Play On! has provided these children with the opportunity to grow, both individually and as a community. They have developed and enhanced critical skills - leadership, social, problem solving, and working in group settings - all while discovering the benefits of staying active.
We'd like to thank our CALC Kids Members, Yousif and Tamara Kareem, for sponsoring this week's session of Project Play On! The generous support of our members has made a significant impact on our youth.
This program is partially funded in part by United Way for Southeastern Michigan and made possible by our CALC Kids Members. If you'd like to sponsor a week of our tutoring program, Project Achievement, click here to become a CALC Kids Member today!
