GHCF & 2164 LAUNCH NEW PHILANTHROPIC TOOL

Inspired by and beta-tested by our  Next Gen Donors, in partnership with  21/64, GHCF co- created a new tool that will be used by philanthropists across the country:  Time, Talent, Treasure & Ties (TTT&T) . We are proud to announce the launch!

Traditionally, donors have focused on how to maximize and distribute their resources around Time, Talent, and Treasure. Now, catalyzed by what we have learned from the next generation, we add a fourth resource to this list: Ties-representing inspiration, connection, and strategic input, leverage, and collaboration with peers and social networks.

FIRST PHILANTHROPY ACCELERATOR

In December 2017, a cohort of local GHCF donors participated in the first Philanthropy Accelerator course offered in partnership with  The Philanthropy Workshop . Donors learned about the Strategic Philanthropy Roadmap and key steps to maximize positive impact for the causes they care about most. Participants spent day two of the two-day workshop at South Texas College of Law taking a deep dive into the current issues facing immigrants and refugees in Houston and the different strategies that funders and nonprofits are using to address these challenges.

In March 2018, Accelerator participants came together at the community foundation to spend time discussing their values, current giving, and philanthropic interests as they seek to create their own giving plans and strategies.

In the words of participants:
"I was able to learn so much in just two days."
"I definitely plan to have a more strategic philanthropy practice."
"I will bring the format with me to family meetings as well as try to create a
family mission statement."
