Dear Terra,

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes positive police-community partnerships.

Every year during the first week in August, communities throughout our district and across the country host events to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.

Here are the National Night Out events happening in District 42 next week:

Don't miss 'World on the Move' exhibit this month at Glen Ellyn Public Library

You'll want to check out Glen Ellyn Library's special exhibit, “World on the Move: 250,000 Years of Human Migration."

I toured the exhibit this week with State Sen. Laura Ellman, and it offers a fascinating look at the complexity of migration throughout history.

Glen Ellyn was the only Illinois library selected to present the exhibit, which was created by the American Anthropological Association and the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.

The exhibit, which will be up through August 30, is free and open to the public during library hours, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
