NGCP Annual Survey:
The NGCP is committed to using an informed approach when serving its vast network of educators and organizations committed to informing and encouraging girls to pursue STEM careers. In order to do this as effectively as possible, external evaluators are administering a survey to investigate the reach and impact of the project. Responses are kept confidential and will only be reported in aggregate to the project leadership, funders, and sponsors. We are asking all individuals who have registered to attend an NGCP event or webinar, Collaborative Leadership Team members, regional and national Champions
 Board members, and mini-grantees to please respond to
this survey. The survey will close on July 31, 2018.

 NGCP National Webinar: Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA
Online; June 11, 2018, 11:00 AM Pacific (2:00 PM Eastern)
This Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA (part of NASA's Universe of Learning) webinar will provide a brief overview of the program and its resources, including a range of computer-based and paper-based activities, along with exhibits and poster series. We will then delve deeper in activity-based resources related to exoplanets. In addition to the content, there will be time  for questions and comments in order for the NASA's Universe of Learning team to best support your program efforts with the Girls STEAM Ahead with NASA materials.

SciGirls Training at the Magnet Lab
Tallahassee, FL; June 6, 2018
SciGirls is an Emmy-award winning PBS KIDS television series and website dedicated to changing the way millions of girls think about STEM. Local educators are invited to participate in a hands-on, minds-on Professional Development Training hosted by the National MagLab. Participants will practice proven strategies for engaging girls in STEM while working out several fun STEM activities. Register.
SciGirls Go Green Educator Workshop
Golden Valley, MN; June 16, 2018
Participants will learn gender equitable teaching strategies using SciGirls programming, a national educational initiative using media, activities, and professional development to empower youth, ages 8-12. Additionally, participants will hear about the SciGirls GO GREEN curriculum and hands on science inquiry lessons using recycled materials. Register.
CryptoClub in Schenectady
Schenectady, NY; June 22, 2018
Cryptography uses math, problem-solving, critical thinking and even history and language arts. CryptoClub is a curriculum for middle school students that uses cryptography to build these skills in a fun and engaging way. This workshop will train educators in the CryptoClub curriculum. Participants will gain an understanding of the curricula and receive materials for their students. Register.

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) STEM Forum and Expo

 This NSTA event brings together informal and formal educators and exhibiting companies interested in, and/or who have tools and resources to share to ensure successful implementation of STEM education in schools and communities. It is intended to provide resources for educators and organizations seeking to learn more about STEM education, associated outreach programs, partnerships, schools, and curricula.

The Connectory Spotlight highlights programs and opportunities in
The Connectory. This free online collaboration tool for STEM program providers helps them find partners based on interests, as well as showcase STEM opportunities to families.
National Making Week is June 11-17, 2018. The week is designed to highlight the diversity of Makers big and small, young and old, urban and rural. This month we are turning The Connectory Spotlight on three great Maker opportunities.
MakerSPACE Family Weekend Drop-in (Saturdays). Inspired by the Newark Museum's collections and special events, monthly themes are designed for visitors of all ages to drop in and experiment with the tools and materials of artists. Get messy with clay, paint, and found materials. Great creative with blocks and digital and computer tools.
Maker Camp (July 30- Aug 3). This Fleet Science Center camp in San Diego, encourages kids (grades 5-6) to join the Maker movement and craft, tinker, and create their own devices.
 Maker Faire® Milwaukee 2018 (Sept 28-30). This family-friendly event welcomes makers - tech enthusiasts, inventors, crafters, educators, tinkerers, and hobbyists of all ages - to exhibit their work and share their knowledge and skills with other makers and with the community.

 Afterschool Tech Toolkit
This free resource from the National AfterSchool Association includes a series of modules, webinars, and hands-on training that will help afterschool professionals and educators plan and prepare to integrate technology into their programs. The toolkit is for those who lead or oversee out-of-school time programming in various settings including schools, community-based organizations, private organizations, churches, libraries, and homeless shelters.
June is National Zoo and Aquarium Month
This month is a good time to explore your local zoo and aquarium. The
Association of Zoos and Aquariums provides a collection of links. Many of the websites have educational resources such as videos, wild life facts, lesson plans, and activities.
 NCWIT: Enrich PK-8 Computing Education
This is a
new resource from the National Center for Women & Information Technology's (NCWIT). Student influencers such as formal and informal educators and parents are eager to direct students to viable education opportunities in computing. Consider these key points and resources that can be used to integrate computing skills into existing curricula, encourage diverse participation in computing, and/or connect students to informal learning environments that emphasize hands-on experience with technology.

This

World Oceans Day is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. This year's focus is "Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean." The website includes free resources and information about how to get involved.
NGCP Highlights World Oceans Day
