Sinus Tarsi
MRI Foot Case Study

Our case study of the month is an MRI scan of the left foot, status post motor vehicle accident. The 58 year old female patient presented with left foot pain in the lateral aspect near the malleolus and in the dorsal aspect of the distal metatarsals. The MRI Foot Case Study procedure included multi-planar images of the left foot obtained without contrast on our 1.5 Tesla MRI machine. There was no comparison scan.  Read the entire case study here.

Events GWIC Honors In September

The International Day of Peace, and also known as World Peace Day, is observed every year on September 21st. It is a day dedicated to awareness of world peace and the absenc
e of w ar and violence and the reminder that peace is what we should all be collectively working towards all year long.   The theme of this year's commemoration from the UN is "Partnerships for Peace - Dignity for All" which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.  Visit their website for more information.

The September 11th is designated as the National Day of Service and Remembrance. It was originally launched in 2002 by the 9/11 nonprofit MyGoodDeed organization. This initiative established the tradition of engaging in charitable service on 9/11 as a tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks.  For more information on this initiative or to find ways to serve your communities visit the United We Serve website.

One in 3 children in the United States is overweight or obese. Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.   We can all use this month to raise awareness about the obesity epidemic and show people how they can take steps toward a solution.

Here are just a few ideas:
  • Encourage families to make small changes, like keeping fresh fruit within reach or going on a family walk after dinner.
  • Motivate teachers and administrators to make schools healthier. Help them provide healthy food options and daily physical activities for students.
  • Ask doctors and nurses to be leaders in their communities by supporting programs to prevent childhood obesity.
