The United States Military Academy at West Point is looking for an Equipment/Shop manager to maintain our turf equipment fleet at the West Point Golf Course, an 18 hole facility serving our Active Military, Cadet Core and surrounding community. This is a Full Time position with full Army/NAF Benefits. We are seeking an individual to join our team who has skills and experience related to the repair and maintenance of golf course equipment and is interested in becoming invested in our operation. The course will be seeing a new clubhouse come on-line in the next few months, new irrigation system installation, new cart fleet, and continuous turnover of equipment. The operation is committed to re-investment in repair and maintenance of our equipment and is supported by a strong budget and great maintenance facility to enable success of maintenance operations. The maintenance facility is one of the best in the Army with a two post and table lift, Foley Accu-master Reel and Accu-pro bedknife grinders, epoxy floors, and large workspaces throughout.
Duties include but are not limited to maintaining a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, purchase and installation of repair/replacement parts, schedules/assigns/directs work of subordinate employees, trains staff on duties assisting with maintenance tasks, cleans/maintains the facility service areas, communicates repair/program needs of equipment to the superintendent of the golf course.
Educational Requirements
No base educational requirements required.
Highly Preferred Criteria:
Experience that has provided you with knowledge of Toro (reel)-type cutting, unit sharpening and adjustment AND Turf Equipment Technician education/certification (ex: Equipment Manager Certificate Program (EMCP); Certified Turf Equipment Manager (CTEM).
Experience Requirements
Three (3) years of work experience that includes repair of failing equipment; repair work on golf course maintenance equipment (diesel & electric golf carts, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers); and instructing or training others in preventative maintenance, proper cleaning and safe operation of golf course equipment; purchasing parts and supplies, etc.).
